Aruba Radisson Renovation updates

Hello All.

Looking to go back to the Aruba Radisson March 2010 - We have been there a couple of times and absolutely love it. I have heard the Hotel has a new GM - former GM of the Westin. In addition, the Hotel is slated to go through a major renovations. Does anyone have any information on the renovation? When it is scheduled to start? Anything would be helpful. I don't want to go there and have a renovation nightmare

Thank you.

P.S. I called the Hotel and didn't get much info.

Yes, Rob Smith, formerly of the Westin, will become new GM at the Radisson.
Renovations were announced when we were on the island in June.
They are not slated to begin until next spring after high season is over.

Closing January 31.

"Based on a conversation with hotel manager Rob Smith, the Minister announces that the Radisson casino will not be closed for long. However, the Radisson has not decided yet whether they will manage the casino themselves or that a foreign management will be taken on. Just as Rob Smith had mentioned last week,"

Honestly I would not hesitate. Rob Smith is an extremely skilled and capable manager. He will make sure that guests are not inconvenienced. I would also venture to guess that between a renovation and the poor economy, the rates will be EXTREMELY attractive.

I would phone MCM Tours or Player's Choice and see what detaisl they have. If anyone besides the resort knows, it would be them.

I received an e-mail from MCM yesterday and was told the pool and outside areas will not be affected - only the rooms. It is my understanding the Bonaire Tower will be renovated first. Not sure about the casino.
