    Aruba Tower Renovations

I tried booking the Aruba Tower of the Radisson for April 2010. Our booking agent told us that they're closing the Aruba Tower for the renovations. We stayed there last April too while they were working on another one of the towers. It didn't damper our vacation at all, but am concerned about the appearance and function of the hotel if their MAIN tower is closed. What would the lobby look like? Would it even be possible to reserve a 'Plaza Club' room since they're in the Aruba Tower? Anybody know? I don't really want to call the hotel long distance and fear not receiving a straight answer anyway.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

If you want specific answers to these important questions, imo you really need to contact the hotel or your travel agent directly. No one here can tell you where the Radisson will be in the schedule of their renovations.

    From another forum--

I emailed them last week asking about Thanksgiving and got this reply:
"The updated rooms in the Curacao tower will be ready by November and the Bonaire tower is done. The Aruba Tower will refresh in April of next year 2011 for 6 months. and the casino is open."

First it would probably depend upon what category room you have booked.

    Aruba Tower
    Pros-

    • larger rooms
    • even partial oceanview has terrific views

    Cons-

    • walls thin as paper, will leave that to your imagination
    • you have to take the elevator down and then walk out through the lobby and through the grounds to get to the pools and beach

Our last partial oceanview below was in the Aruba Tower at the end of the hall closest to the ocean, but on the "outside" of the tower- odd numbered room. If you looked down you could see some roof tops. Imo, who cares with that view of the ocean!

    Bonaire tower
    Pros-

    • newly renovated rooms
    • centrally located to everything-walk down to the end of the hall and walk down a few flights of stairs (or take the elevator) and you are out at the pool area

    Cons-

    • mainly gardenviews, views of the ground with some views of the ocean from rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors, especially rooms closer to the beach

    Curacao Tower
    Pros-

    • will have newly renovated rooms
    • centrally located the 2nd lobby which exits to the guest parking lot
    • centrally located to Laguna restaurant where the breakfast buffet is offered
    • like the Aruba tower, some spectacular oceanviews. My parents booked a standard room and requested a room in the Bonaire tower (my Mom had had hip replacement surgery). They ended up with a partial oceanview in the Curacao tower and with the view, could not complain a single bit. My Mom said it was worth the extra walking alone for the view of the ocean as opposed to a roof top

    Cons-

    • less centrally located, especially from the main lobby
    • taking the elevator wherever you want to go

Partial oceanviews we have had at the Radisson

    Aruba Tower
    Also overlooked a roof top

We got extremely lucky in getting this room which was next to the oceanfront suite.

    Bonaire Tower

The palms are much taller now.

Thanks for all your help... LOVE ALL your photos...
Included in our package is a garden view, the past few times we have been upgraded to ocean view in the aruba tower..
My biggest concern is the noise (if there is any from the construction)...

Last year we were in the aruba tower, above the parrots, and every morning they would wake me up soo early!

My parents just got back from Aruba, I had them check out the raddisson...They said some of the towers (they weren't sure which ones!) were under construction, but it was fenced off and you could not notice anything!! The Casino was open...

Hopefully all the construction will be complete by the time I get there!! =D

    Radisson Construction?

Anyone have an update on the construction at the Radisson? I heard the Curacao Tower will now hold the plaza club level while the aruba tower gets updated. Has anyone seen the new Curacao Tower rooms??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Exclamation Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa Getting a $30 Million Face-Lift

    http://www.aruba.com/news/general-ne...ion-face-lift/
    March 3rd, 2011

"The AAA Four Diamond Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa, situated on 15 acres of the islandís spectacular Palm Beach, has embarked on a $30 million refreshment project. All 355 guest rooms and suites are being completely refurbished in addition to the propertyís expansive open-air lobby, casino and meeting facilities.

Capitalizing on its distinctive architecture and open-air design originally masterminded by the renowned Morris Lapidus in the late 1950s, furniture, fixtures and facing for the resortís accommodations will recapture the retro period from its inception.

Radisson Aruba Resortís trademark Colonial West Indian four-poster mahogany beds are being refreshed and will serve as inviting centerpieces for each room and suite. Tropical-inspired art will adorn freshly painted walls and corridors and terraces will be equipped with state-of-the-art, insulating sliding glass doors and designer furnishings. Guests will also be treated to in-room flat-screen televisions equipped with surround sound."

The propertyís more than 15,000 square feet of meeting/event space divided among five function rooms will also be revived with new wall coverings and carpeting as well as woodwork and millwork finishing. Additional updates include upgraded audio and visual capabilities.

Due to the distinctive design of the resort and to ensure the comfort of its guests, one building at a time is being closed for the enhancements. As a result, in the upcoming months, the property will feel more like a private retreat due to fewer vacationers staying in the reduced inventory of rooms.

The refreshment of the first building, Bonaire Tower, has been completed and the Curacao Tower will be concluded mid-March. The Aruba Tower will be the final building refreshed and closed from the beginning of April through September 2011. Additionally, from April through July, the casino will be undergoing some light cosmetic work during the day and will be open at night for play.
