Has anyone heard anything about Arubs hotels having bed bugs? I am going in Jan 2011 and satyign at the Occidental and just red someone got bed bugs. Has anyone heard more about this? Just worried if it was a fluke, a bad reviewer maybe lying, or is Aruba infested?

ok- thanks. I was thinking that if it was for sure true it would definitly be on this forum...

I also re-read my post and in my haste to get an answer I mispelt several things

It certainly seems like bedbugs are becoming more and more common in general. Our company has had to change hotel providers in several cities over the last year because of bedbug infestations.

I've heard you should:
check the mattress
don't put suitcases on the floor
when you get home, put everything in the dryer to kill any bugs and eggs

Yes, the whole idea is totally gross, but the little buggers seem to popping up everywhere these days.

My girlfriend just flew back from Aruba Wednesday night and said that many people were checking out of the Occidental because of bed bugs. We are scheduled to go in May but I'm now looking to change hotels (even though May is 5 months away).

First I've heard about bed bug complaints in Aruba. Sorry to hear this. Now mosquitoes

the last couple of months, there have been TONS of complaints!
