Bucuti ("No Cash" accepted)
Has anyone else received a message from the Bucuti Beach Resort stating that they will no longer be accepting cash on the property? I received this email from the resort management stating that cash will no longer be accepted as a form of payment anywhere on the property. Guests may room charge of credit card charge only.
I wonder why they will no longer accept cash? For us, we will continue to vacation at Bucuti, but I will have to purchase gift shop, restaurant and bar items from neighboring resorts, since I prefer to pay for these type of items with cash or travelers checks (which are considered cash.) I "never" room charge items (having previously worked in the hospitality business I know for a fact that there are errors, since some people either incorrectly or intentionally charge to the wrong room) or use my credit card for incidentals because I do not want any extra bills when I return home from my trip. Having to scrutinize my bill at checkout is a hassle if something has to be disputed. This may be the new policy, but Bucuti will be losing any extra money that I normally spend at the resort. Interesting...thanks for the update!
We don't stay at the Bucuti but have friends who stay there every year so I'll update her on the new policy. What a pain...I would never take my CC to the beach for drinks or lunch and I hate charging to the room all the time (we stay for 14+ days and it's hard to keep track of what you charged, etc.) We like to pay cash at the beach bar for drinks and lunch. I also suppose this means that if we were to visit our friends at the Bucuti for happy hour we would have to bring our CC with us....or charge our drinks to their room (hmmmm...maybe I'm liking this idea after all! )

Thank you for your post and question in regard to our resort accepting cash payments.
We have changed our policy as of December 23rd and will go 'cashless' for all charges to the hotel bill and restaurant. Our spa, the gift shop, the concierge (for outside activities) continue to accept cash if you wish to pay cash instead directly to these outlets. We encourage guests to use the convenience of signing all charges to their room bill and we accept all major credit cards and debit cards as forms of payment. When guests' only option is to pay with cash, we will gladly accommodate this and arrange to accept a cash payment and will do so upon check in for the hotel stay and incidental deposit. We ask that guests notify us in advance and we will make arrangements to be present at check in to arrange the cash transaction. The new policy is intended to provide for the convenience of not having to carry cash and our guests and associates who would normally carry or store cash can continue to enjoy free movement around the property and our neighboring resort, restaurants and businesses without the burden or confinement of fences and walls. Our goal is to maintain a safe and secure environment in our small, open air resort for our guests and our associates while preserving our openess and freedom and this is the reason for our change in policy. Aruba has been and remains a safe and friendly tourist destination and we wish to preserve and encourage this forever. We thank you for your comments and welcome your questions...feel free to contact me with your questions or comments. Kind regards, Susan Biemans Last edited by Susan Biemans; 11-18-2008 at 02:54 PM.
