Sounds like the high rise area would be more suited to you. Definitely easier to walk out of the hotel and hAve some nightlife around in walking distance with options. From your posts, I would think go with Barcelo. The money you will save over the RIU can be budgeted for a couple off site meals or drinks. I think Barcelo crowd may be more in your age group from what we have seen just walking by on the beach. They have a royal club option or something similar to the if top shelf is important to you.
I'd also suggest the Hilton if you were willing to go without all inclusive. It's doable if you are willing to make some of your own drinks and look for happy hours. But if you just want to relax and be catered to, then stick to the all inclusive of you like to drink and have a budget.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Thanks for all the replys. We have talked about it a lot, and although we like the action, from what we have read, we would be close to the action anyway with a short cab ride or nice walk, that I believe we are going to choose ...

    The bucuti :]

They are doing renovations when we plan on going but they have an oceanfront deluxe room available for us. It might work out even better considering they will be closing the entire tara building during the renovations, so even less people will be there.

I believe this is the right decision also. After reading reviews from the other two hotels, those problems just don't seem to happen at the bucuti.

I already have made reservations at elements. We are not a fan of the communal type eating so we passed on the other restaurant.

Now, can you guys give some suggestions for some must do restaurants so I can put some reservations in?? :]

    Thank you very much again

You will enjoy Elements. The food is great. Also, the Sand Bar at the Bucuti serves appetizers at happy hour. Pega Pega next door at Manchebo gets lots of good reviews. If you post your restaurant requests on the Culinary thread you will get lots of responses.

I really don't think you can go wrong with Bucuti.

We always stay at the Riu. The food is pretty good but mind you they are cooking for a whole bunch of people at 1 time so don't expect 5 star restaurant type food. I like that it's within walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in Palm Beach. They have a show or something going on every night and the adults-only next door has a disco which opens at 11 pm. As far as getting seats by the pool, I'm an early riser so I'm able to get seats. I've been told that if you ask one of the workers walking around, they'll get you a lounger if you can't get one. Plus, if you don't have kids with you, you can use both the Riu Palace and the Riu Palace Antillas facilities. I think which ever you decide you'll have an amazing time on the island!!

This March will be our 15th trip to Aruba and every year we stay at Manchebo...we absolutely LOVE it there! Although we haven't stayed at the Bucuti, we've walked the property and it's gorgeous...as is the beach! Take advantage of going to different hotels in walking distance and you can get a sense of what the other hotels are like. The Pega Pega at Manchebo has a great lunch and Happy Hour..(it's actually 2 hours and drinks are 2 for 1) Matthews a few doors down (going towards town from the Bucuti) has wonderful dinners as well! Enjoy your time on the island, you will NOT be disappointed!!!!

    So, question.

Since we like being around the action at night, and like hearing music and bars, being that we are staying at the bucuti, which doesn't really offer nightly entertainment for young ones like ourselves, can we still go to places like the hyatt and other high rise hotels and drink at their bars, and see their entertainment?

    Thanks
