Divi Divi YIKES????

We are headed to Aruba for the first time next week (22nd-28th). We got the Lanai rooms because that was the best they had. From the searches we've done, and the trip reports we've read, we are very concerned we've made a mistake. The Resort seems fine, but the accomadations at best seem lack luster.
Has anyone ever stayed in the Lanai rooms?

dividivi

see pix of divi and tamarijn at this site www.geocities.com/THEFEEL2002

free site---shuts down for an hour every now and then, keep trying.

also free short movies, showing inside of lanai room at www.geocities.com/dividivi12000 or 12001 or 12002 or 12003 or 12004

lanai rooms, odd numbers on bottom and even numbered rooms on 2nd floor. 20 rooms in all in the building. all face the beach. rooms cleaned daily.

you are not buying the rooms, only renting for a week. Relax.

right click on these and "save target as" to your desktop for viewing.

The Divi does not provide a 5 star room so don't expect the Hyatt but I am telling you that once you get there it does not matter! The room leaves alot to be desired but still there really wasn't anything really wrong with it. Please don't worry. That is not what you go to the Divi for. I would forgive alot worse rooms for the experience and beach I get there.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm sure it's typical concerns.

we stayed at the divi before and went to the tam for dinner and to look around. i definately think the divi is much nicer and the tam looked a bit run down but the food was great in the italian restaurant there and i'm sure all the food was just as good as the divi.... we loved our stay. you will too!! if you go to the tam's italian restaurant, get the escagot for appz....it was delish!!! if you have kids you might want to stick with the tam .....divi was more adult oriented which is why we choose it. but no matter where you stay, its all good!!!

also about the rooms, you are there to sleep and shower! i wouldnt' put too much concern on that aspect of the place....you will be so happy to be there! a lanai room is really no big deal....just closer to the beach. the inside was not any better than the other rooms....but it was clean and comfortable and my husband was able to watch jimmy neutron!! (the big baby!!)

Can you detail EXACTLY some of the things which you felt were apparently rundown?

Our family has 4 rooms reserved at the Tam for 12 nights over Christmas and want to know what to expect. Yeah, it is "only" a room and it is "only" a resort, but for that kind of $$$ please don't imply it is Motel 6 or is it?

Should we have major concerns? I was under the impression the guest rooms have all been renovated, what other specifics can you tell us???

Tam

We stayed at the Tam last fall (first week in Oct)for our honeymoon and it was great. Not a five star hotel, but clean and fine for our uses, sleeping and showering. We enjoyed the Divi properties so much we'll be back for our anniversary staying at the Divi Golf condos......The food was great, people very friendly, and we felt we got our money's worth
