First trip to Aruba

We are going to Aruba in September 2010 for our 25th wedding anniversary. Staying at the Radisson, garden view room. I was wondering how the radisson was with upgrading our room if space is available, anyone have any experiences or suggestions on what building to ask for?

We've stayed there four times. It is a four star resort on Palm Beach.
Is there anything specific you wanted to know?

I have tons of photos of the resort here.

Room choice is going to depend upon category booked and received. My parents booked gardenview and received partial oceanview in the Curacao builidng. They were pleased. If you do not like to walk, you would not have been pleased because it is the tower furthest from everything.

The Aruba tower has the largest rooms and also the thinnest walls of any hotel we have ever stayed at anywhere in the world.

Bonaire tower is perfect in my mind if you do not have to have the larger room. It has some very nice views, even of the grounds and is centrally located to everything.

Excellent choice of hotels.... biggest beach, no problem getting a palapa, Sunset Grille is the best, the people are great and the rooms are very nice! An upgrade should be no problem in September... if space is available. The Bonaire tower is said to be closed for rennovations so the hotel may be booked without space for an upgrade.

We enjoyed the Aruba tower the first couple of stays and then decided, since we are never in the room, save a couple of $$$ with a garden view. We had no problem upgrading to a partial ocean view. The grounds are beautiful and I don't think you would be unhappy with any location!

Andrea J. had mentioned mixed reviews for Laguna's dinner buffet. We tried it one time and decided there are too many great nearby options that are within a walking distance to do a repeat!

First trip

Andrea,
We are booked in a Garden view room. Like I said I am going for our 25th wedding anniversary. I am going in the third week os September. I have been told that that is not a busy time and upgrades are possible. I would like to stay near everything, so dont want the Curacoa building. I plan on calling the GM Rob Smith and see what I can do. Any suggestions from you would be appreciated.

Because of ArubaLisas suggestion We stayed at the Radisson.
(september all three times) awesome choice.

ALWAYS felt like we had the place to ourselves.
Took video and had to keep checking to see if the sound was on because it was so quiet and peaceful.

What I liked is I didnt have to get up early to get a chair. You can reserve a chair at 4pm the day before and its yours as long as your belongings are on the chair.

I personnally did not like the garden view rooms. We took the standard room. Got the Curaco building 6th floor. Our view was the Rui straight out--but when you sit on the chair on the balcony--- you can see the ocean.

We booked where we got the free breakfast every morning.. and id did the job to hold us til dinner.

I cant tell you if the beds are comfortable because we were always so tired and slept like babies.

Why would you not want the Curaco building. ?

I have not stayed in the other buildings but would not want to be where those birds are--- I can only imagine how loud they are early int he mornings.
