Holiday Inn Sunspree

Hello all! Any info would be appreciated on Holiday Inn. Leaving in about 2 weeks and haven't seen any recent posts. Read a lot of mixed reviews on travel websiets. Thanks, Lisa

We stayed at the HI on our first trip to Aruba. We were not impressed at all. Of course, it all depends on what your preferences are. I'm sure there are some who have stayed at the HI and loved it. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you are not already a priority club member with Holiday Inn, sign up and they may upgrade your room, based on availability. Ask for either the Aruba or Bonaire Tower. Both of those towers have been renovated. They both are located in the Main Bldg. The Curacao Bldg. you don't want. From what I hear, that tower is still not renovated. You have to walk outside to get to the Curacao Tower. It is next door to Moomba Beach Bar & Restaurant which can get loud, especially on music nights.

The times I have stayed at the H.I. I was told that they assign the rooms when you arrive. If you have transfers from the airport to the hotel, I would suggest not using the transfers and take a taxi. You will be check-in before the bus arrives, and hopefully get a better room.

We stayed there in june and will be staying there again on saturday for a week. yes, its not my first choice! but, this will be our 3 trip this year and its worth the price. we do the all inclusive (which i always say i wouldn't do in aruba) but it takes care of our bar bill! ha..
the room was fine, clean, nothing great but we aren't in there that much. its a pain to get a place on the beach. the food is OK, and i mean just OK. my husband didn't mind it as much as i did but i'm a little more picky then he is! for the price, you get what you pay for. also everyone was very nice and helpful.
i also want to say, we are going down to get more info on opening a business and moving there so we aren't picking the holiday inn for our "vacation hotel" i would then stay someplace else. i'd rate it at a 6 out of 10. just go and have fun!
Liz, thanks for the tip on the club member, i'll see if that works.
(we also did stay in the bonaire tower, but had asked for a oceanview)(and not sure if that was worth the money! not that great of a view)...

We stay in the HI in March, We did it for price (was the best priced place) We did AI, not sure if we would have done that again.(after we did the AI, we thought gee we should have, there are so many places we would like to try!). (I know you can just get breakfast, I wish that is what we would have done!) We aren't big drinkers....
The room are ok, clean, hell you are only really going to sleep there! so as long as its clean, and smells nice, and you have everything you need. Really most of your time is going to be spent on the beach anyway! Dinners where ok there, (we never did the buffet for dinner though) ONe night we did the open one, and two night we did the fancy one, and one night we ate out at flying fishbone) THe food was ok at the HI, For breakfast, they will make eggs to order, just ask one of the waiters. Something we learned when it was almost time to go home.
I cant remember the name of the tower we where in, but if you are standing in front of the hotel it was the tower all the way to the left. We had a nice view of the employee parking lot,
Would I stay there again sure, Its probaly not the greatest hotel,(its the oldest one) but like I said you are really only sleeping there..

Let us know how you make out....

Stayed at thi HI, last week, in the Bonaire tower, it was fine, clean and staff was nice. For the price and the fact you don't spend much time in the room it's good, also, the beach is great, just gotta get up early to reserve a hut, be online around 6:30 am. This was our 2nd time staying here, lotsa friendly guest also. ENJOY !!!!!

Thanks so much to everyone for your quick and informative replies! I know HI isn't the best hotel, but it was cheap Aruba or Cancun and I always choose Aruba!!!
