Internet Access in Hotel Room
I will be staying at the divi villiage golf and beach resort. If I bring my laptop how can I ensure there is the internet connection available? Does it have to be dial up or can it be 24/7 connection at all times? How do I get it hooked up? How do I pay, in American money, right at the front desk?
This is what they say about internet access on the hotel site: Internet Fees Dial-up Service 15 mins - $4.00 30 mins - $8.00 1 hour - $12.50 3 hours - $25.00 5 hours - $35.00 Laptop use is available in the room at $12.95 per week. High-Speed Service Available at the Tamarijn Kiosk Wi-Fi Service 24 hours - $15.00 3 days - $30.00 4 days - $35.00 7 days - $50.00 Note: Fees are subject to change without notice. |

When we stayed at the Tamarijn in December we used the in-room WIFI at $50 a week. At that time, it was working fine. I have read since then it was working only sporadically.

Bella, we stayed at the Links last year, and could not pick up any wifi near there. There are a few restaurants, cafes, that offer free wifi. A couple that I remember are "Salt and Pepper" near Playa Linda, and Charlies Bar in or near San Nicolas. Normally we would go for coffee in the morning to Salt and Pepper, and I would check emails once a day. You can check with the concierge, I'm sure there are a lot more establishments around the island with free wifi.
We will be at the Links next week, I'll give you an updated list when we return. Tom R

Just some data points re: wifi at Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort -
2 weeks - Feb. 2008 used the resort's wifi provider's service. At the Golf Villas and at Divi Village (C and D bldgs.) - no service/connection problems. paid $100 for 3 weeks of use (available on provider's site). 1 week - April, 2008 - Divi Village (D bldg) - no service/connection problems. Paid $50 for the 7 days. The resort does not contain a SETAR WiFi hotspot so do not expect to be able to use the SETAR service. Did Note on visits in 2007 and this year that the SETAR wifi signal strength, at the resort, was sufficiently strong late at night (10:30 pm and on) to support connection if one had the SETAR hotspot card account. During early morning and rest of day - signal strength not there... How to pay? With credit card on the provider's site. hth |

When you open your browser it should open to the Divi Properties screen. From there are instructions on how to pay and get in. Pretty straightforward.
