La Cabana/Aruban resort questions

last july my family stayed at the divi. the buildings right across from the beach, loved the views, right across from the beach, room was a bit dated but big and clean. loved having the kitchenette. we are looking at either staying at la cabana or the aruban resort and casino this july. i wanted to know what you think the best/worst points of each place is.....help me decide.lol

the price difference is gonna be about 300.00 for us between the two. the pool slide at aruban looks much nicer for my son(14). i know la cabana is closer to beach(aruban behind it). what is the difference in the rooms? anyone with pictures? help me out if you can?

Lacabana BRC and the Aruban (formerly lacabana villas) are no longer related.
the "divorce" thru the courts happened a few yrs ago.

IMO the lacabana brc is the better of the 2 properties.
the aruban's units are larger.
the aruban is supposed to be having big renovations including a new casino built, but that whole renovation project at the aruban is on hold/stopped/moving incredibly slowly and is having incredible financial issues.

the lacabana brc is financially ok.
their renovations are running full tilt and will be completed in the fall of 2011.
their renovation of the units is about 1/3 complete.........maybe more.

maybe marlene or liz (mercedes lady or liz -arubalover) can elaborate more and add pix of both sites

Even though I am an owner at The Aruban, I would pick La Cabana. If you get a renovated unit there, that would be great as they came out really nice. Except I don't like the kitchen in the living room in the 1 bedroom units. The units are larger at The Aruban, but there are no 1 bedroom renovated units.

Which units at the Aruban have been renovated?

I own 4 weeks in unit #1520. That is the only 1 bedroom unit that is renovated. it's beautiful. But since they use the unit as the model unit, owners cannot stay in the unit.

you ladies are great! thanks!

what about the pool area and beach...we may have the kids with us ranging in ages 7-14? pool area is important, the slide at aruban looks better for kids. what about beach palapas and chairs...any issues? keep the info comming....thanks!

yes that slide at the aruban is pretty cool.

there are MORE beach lounges and palapas on the eagle beach section reserved for lacabana than the aruban.

the pool at the lacabana is pretty awesome too, with an adequate waterslide, pool games, the lacabana nana program nearby.

i am a lacabana owner
sold my aruban units about 6 yrs ago. no regrets!!!

I just got back from the Aruban last week . If you get a really good deal on this resort & you like quiet (and don't mind dated but clean rooms) this is the place . We had breakfast in our room everyday (complete kitchenette) and ate out in the evening . The pools are warm , service OK . The Cabana looked nicer and a lot busier as we walked through on the way to the beach .
Good restaurants within walking distance LePetite , Tulips , Chalet Swisse , (overated i think)Mangos ,& Passions . I'm sure i missed a few.
Mangos was my favourite and a quick taxi ride took us to the Buccaneer (the catch of the day was Barracuda - DELICOUS) another great place . We tried to spend modestly on food ,although there are tons of great dining experiences a cab ride away ( constant cabbing can quickly add up though) . Like i said if the price is right and you don't mind quiet ( really quiet) then the Aruban should be fine . Good luck

Since the divorce, does the Aruban use the same beach as La Cabana?
