    Manchebo

We are still undecided about going to Aruba amidst the Zika issue...not that pregnancy will be happening before or after for a little while.

How many of you have been to the Manchebo Beach Resort and what are your views?

I researched many places in the Caribbean before choosing Aruba and Manchebo, but I saw nothing but good reviews for this place, describing the people as always happy and welcoming, much like Aruba!

Gonna be staying at Manchebo this year for the first time. We've toured the resort and the rooms a coupla times and were really impressed with the staff and the rooms. Huge beach and nice grounds. This will be our 2nd year on Eagle Beach after spending many years on Palm Beach. We're well researched about the property and expect to really enjoy the stay. I think you made a good choice.

We did a walk through at Manchebo on our last trip and liked it a lot. We were deciding between Manchebo or Bucuti for our next trip. We ended up deciding on Bucuti for our next trip because it's adult only but I definitely think we will try Manchebo on another trip.

We've had stayed at Manchebo four times for short stays, when adding addtional days to our timeshare stays. We absolutely love Manchebo. We think that it has the best beach on the island. The staff is great. We go over for happy hour and visit with some of the staff every time we go to Aruba. The rooms aren't huge. It is one of the first hotels on the island, back when they all built small, basic rooms, but they are big enough to be considered adequate. They recently renovated all of the rooms, and they are very nice. All of the garden areas are lovely. Manchebo takes a lot of pride in their conservation efforts to be a green resort. I'm sure that they are doing everything that they can to help rid the mosquito population. I know that is your primary concern. Generally speaking, mosquitoes seem to be more noticeable at dusk, but that is not to say that they aren't around during other times. Some years, we haven't seen any, and other years, we've seen quite a few, especially after rainy periods. I know this isn't much help, and that you have a tough decision to make.

As Andrea said the Manchebo never receives poor reviews. Its just going to come down to your comfort level, the hotel and Aruba are great.

We stayed at the Manchebo for a few days pre timeshare about 5/6 years ago but do visit the French Steakhouse restaurant every trip (we don't visit every year, though). Back then, the rooms were similar to a normal Holiday Inn but completely adequate and so very clean and functional. The friendly people and exceptional service, grounds, beach, bars and restaurants are what earned this resort high marks from me. I would not hesitate to stay there again, especially with the new room reno's.

I assume Manchebo underwent a major renovation making it the level place it is today. We were there in 2000 and it was less than special. How long ago did the reno happen?

Thanks Andrea. I figured there had to be. It was really a low budget kinda place when we were there.
