    Manchebo vs. Amsterdam Manor

In September will arrive in Aruba for our 7th time. We have always stayed in the high rise area. We are going to change things up and stay in the low rise area. We are looking at Manchebo and Amsterdam Manor and looking for advice. We are an easy to please 60 year old couple who like to gamble.
I'm sure we will be happy at either resort - we are also open to other suggestions. Thank you in advance for your input.

We did a walk through Manchebo back in December as we were considering it for a future stay. We were between Manchebo and Bucuti. We decided on Bucuti because it is adult only but I would still consider Manchebo for another time. It's on the same beach, gets great reviews from many on this forum and they have 3 restaurants. It's walkable to the Alhambra Casino plus the beach is gorgeous.

    Both are lovely resorts

Manchebo is IMO a better location as it is ON the beach. Manchebo is surrounded by some good restaurants and shopping, casino, golf.

Amsterdam manor is a resort that may be a bit more upscale, but is across the street from the beach. (that being said, it is NO big deal to cross the street to get onto the beach.

There are casinos nearby to Amsterdam Resort.

You cannot do wrong at either place.

If it were me that had to choose...i would go w/ manchebo as I love the location.

Amsterdam is a bit on the quiet side. I don't think I would describe it as a bit upscale though. Maybe because of the wild crew I was with lol. I've never stayed at Manchebo though, so I can't really compare. Either one will be a wonderful choice!

Or maybe it was just so quiet that we felt really wild?

I've stayed at Manchebo for short stays four or five times. We love it. It is not upscale, but it has been completely renovated and is very nice. The staff is very attentive. The beach is amazing. I've never stayed at Amsterdam Manor, but I love the look of it. I've always wanted to stay there, but the reports of a strong sewer smell that happens only once in a while has turned me off to the idea. Also, we really enjoy being able too walk to all of the shops and restaurants around Manchebo.

We've stayed at both (Manchebo twice and Amsterdam Manor 15+ times.) Both are nice resorts. Both have casinos that are walkable.

    Manchebo -
    pros:
right on the beach (although a LONG walk to the water - LOL!)
    walkable to more restaurants

cons: small rooms (just your basic hotel room but they have been redone)

    Amsterdam Manor -
    pros:
a variety of rooms to choose from (studio, one bedroom, or 2 bedroom/2 bath) and all have kitchenettes or full kitchens
    room service (limited menu)
    free floats for the beach
bus stop right in front - easy 5 minute bus ride if you want to go to the high rise area for the night (restaurants, casinos, etc.)

    cons:
beach is across the street but, for us, it's really not a big deal. I actually "timed" my walk from my room to our palapa one day and it was under one minute.
not as many restaurants to walk to

As you can see, we are partial to Amsterdam Manor and have been staying there for many years - mainly for the room sizes and kitchens and also the beach (calmer water than at Manchebo.) But you really can't go wrong with either place. Both places have free Wifi and are quiet and relaxing which we love. We can have "our fun" elsewhere but we like to come back to a small resort that's peaceful.

Amy, how would you compare the swimming pools of the Amsterdam Manor and Manchebo?

Size-wise they're about the same. Nothing fancy.
