    Marriott??

a customer of ours who goes to aruba all the time just came back and said the Marriott bought the Ritz. Anyone else hear that? She said the Ritz was dying in this past year and the Marriott took it over. She goes all the time but we only go once a year.

Any truth to the rumor they will be changing to the JW Marriott brand? If so does anyone know the difference as far as price/service?
Not sure when, but we will be back

That would be a first, as Marriott doesn't own a single resort in Aruba... Up to now they are only managing resorts own by somebody else.

We were told by someone in the "know" that changing to a JW Marriott may be come a reality. Currently, they are still trying to establish the Ritz as a "Ritz" but they are having issues staffing it to the high standards commonly established by the Ritz. Not sure if they didn't train staff properly or that they don't have the type of staff they need. So while the hotel is a Ritz it may become a JW

A change of branding is plausible if the Ritz don't qualify to Ritz standards over time, but a change of branding doesn't mean that Marriott will buy the place...

Marriott Surf Club: Timeshares owners, still Marriott owns a few timeshares as well.
Marriott Ocean Club: Timeshares owners, still Marriott owns a few timeshares as well.
Marriott Stellaris: At one time it was a Caribbean financial group, sorry can't seem to remember the name...
