Marriott Stellaris

I know this has probably been asked but I've seen so many different answers. I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how far the Marriott is from any of the shops/restaurants ? Some reviews I have read have said that it is far and then other reviews have said it's not far at all ? Does anyone know maybe how long it would take to walk from the Marriott down to the Radisson area or any shops/restaurants ?
Thank you

You can use this aerial map to see the proximity to the rest of the high rise area.
http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.5756748&lon=-70.0443649&z=16&l=0&m=s&v=9 the Marriott is at the top of the view.

It is not that it is not within walking distance, the difficulty for some is that unlike the rest of Palm Beach which is connected beachside by a concrete boardwalk, the boardwalk only extends as far north as the Holiday Inn. All of the other resorts southward from the Holiday Inn are connected beachside by this boardwalk.
Figure walking the beach to Paseo Harencia Mall the first grouping of streetside eateries is about .35 miles. http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.5773712&lon=-70.0443113&z=17&l=0&m=b&gz=0;-700453842;125749628;5901;40105;0;3769;9120;3560;12 124;0

Arawak Garden http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.5697689&lon=-70.0447083&z=16&l=0&m=s&v=9 across from the Occidental, walking the beach, is just shy of a mile http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.5756539&lon=-70.0443649&z=16&l=0&m=b&gz=0;-700467896;125697479;16307;0;21028;9844;0;17174;120 16;47751;12230;58850;16737;76442;21028;93825;21672 ;104715

As relatively safe as Aruba is, another consideration is walking in the dark back down the beach to return to the Marriott. The beach is not lit. Whenever we have walked Palm Beach at night we have walked streetside where there is plenty of traffic. Not possible to get to the Marriott in that manner.

Moomba Beach Bar is close, like a 3 minute walk. Keep going another 5 - 8 minutes. You will pass the holiday inn and thats where the "action" begins.

We did a lot of walking when we were there, always went along the beach and then cut through the Holiday Inn parking lot. Not too bad of a walk.

Thank you so much for the responses. That doesn't seem too far.
The map was really helpful. I've been trying to find a map like that
where everything is labeled. Thank you both.
Do you know about how much a taxi would cost to go to Oranjestad ?
Or to the Mall behind the Radisson ?
Do you know if the Marriott has any shuttles ?

Approximately $10- $11 each way with a maximum of 5 persons per taxi. Addtional $3 on Sunday and late night.

Taxi fare is $5 each way, with the same stipulations as above, within the High Rise resort area.

No, they do not. The only resort I know of which has "shuttles" are the golf carts that the Divi/Tamarijn/Divi Village/Links/Dutch Village provide for transport between their properties as well as the Alhambra Casino.

You are close to the new shopping malls that have opened on Palm Beach but you will need a ride to get to the shopping areas downtown. There is more than one shopping area in Aruba now

Yes, downtown Oranjestad.

All depends on traffic and where in Oranjestad. From the Marriott to the beginning of Oranjestad it is not long, but with bumper to bumper traffic ... figure 15 minutes to be on the safe side, could take less, could take more.

Rental Car's are reasonably priced - you may want to consider pros and cons of renting a car for your trip, or part of your trip. Taxi fares add up quickly. Aruba is a very driver friendly island (part of what makes the island so great!).
