I will say that the Hard Rock Casino in Vegas is my favorite. Maybe this will be a good one, too.

What does "The project is expected to be realized by 2014" mean? It's Aruba, so surely not completion. I for one am glad that someone is finally going to do something with that property. At 7 floors it might be a bit tall for the area, but at least it won't be the eyesore it is now.

i miss the Bushiri of days past.
but, the place has been sitting rotting and demolishing by neglect now for over 10 yrs.
    it is time.
i look forward to the hard rock.

but, i am not a resident and wonder just what the residents think of yet another place?

The article posted is from April 2012, thus the reference to 2014.

http://www.aruba.com/forum/f22/hard-rock-hotel-55365/ the April 2012 thread here

I am more curious as to what they are going to do with the harbor and its containers. Hard Rock Punta Cana All Inclusive gets $420-$730 a night high season. A parking lot view for $420 is one thing, but harbor containers and oil tanks? That may be an issue

What is there not to like about a suite with a swim up pool?

and it is going to be a GREEN resort

Imho, if the government is going to permit wind turbines at Alto Vista, then surely there is room for one more resort if it is going to be "green". Domingo Antonio Silvestre is turning over in his grave.

wow, if the container area is moved...it will change the look so dramatically...I guess change can be a good thing. Assuming they don't decide to erect another hotel higher than the 7 story hardrock. Wish the gov't would put a height limit on all of the new buildings....

ORANJESTAD - Yesterday the Mike Eman Cabinet signed an agreement to start an exciting new project to rise from the former Bushiri Hotel ruins. Last year, Aruba’s Minister of Tourism Otmar Oduber announced the plans for the most recent hotel chain to join Aruba’s array of resorts to the island as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The existing Bushiri Hotel, which has been closed for over a decade and located across the street from the supermarket shopping district will be demolished and replaced with a 4 star resort showcasing 7 floors, 310 rooms and loads of entertainment.
