    New Bucuti Policy

The Bucuti has instituted a new policy to provide exclusive bar service to their hotel and restaurant guests only.

So if you're taking a stroll down the beach and the Sand Bar looks like a nice place to stop for a drink.....you cannot drink there unless you are staying at the Bucuti or have been invited there by a hotel guest.

The beach is still public (all beaches in Aruba are public) but ALL of their resort facilities are private property and for their guests' use only going forward.

Why on earth would they want to turn away the revenue from the bar? I understand keeping outsiders away from the other facilitys but the bar does'nt make sense to me.

RIU is the same way, of course they are an AI resort. Guests only at their restaurants and non-guests are not allowed to walk through the pool area either. Dont know how they can tell but we were asked to leave when we were taking a look at their facilities. Kind of a turn-off too, seeing if you might want to stay there.

I also dont understand why Bucuti would turn away paying customers since they are not an all inclusive anyway. Im sure the extra revenue must be substantial at the bar.

Interesting - are they going to start checking for proof of staying there when using the bar? Odd policy for a cash bar.

Bucuti's bar is not a cash bar. A few years ago they implemented a policy at their bar that payment could only be charged to your room (if you were a guest there) or paid by credit card only. No cash!

Almost all AI resorts we've stayed at in the past at other destinations have the same policy as the Riu so that is not unusual at all for an AI resort. They can tell who is a guest and who is not because the AI guests wear a wristband that they receive upon check-in.

Odd.... we've walked thru the Rui lobby, grounds and pool area a couple of times without being asked to leave. I would think they'd encourage someone to check out the place with the hopes they'd decide to stay there. One of the reasons we started staying at the Radisson was the graciousness (sp?) of the staff when we walked thru the Rad and asked to check out a guest room. They couldn't do enough to help us out!

BTW... July 2013 will be our 7th or 8th consecutive Radisson stay! Great property and superior staff.... and it all started with a 'walk thru'.....

    Bucuti Policy

We stay at Costa Linda and we have always used the Bucuti bar for happy hours. Many times there are more people from Costa Linda than from the resort. The bartendars know us well and have our drinks prepared when they see us walking down the path to Bucuti.

I guess a couple of guests complained that they couldn't get a seat at the bar. Definitely a great disappointment to us. I'm sure it will be a big monetary adjustment for the bartendars.
