Some are fixed weeks, usually holidays, weeks 50, 51, 52,
    easter and presidents week.

Others are week 2-17 high season
    18-50 low season.

Again the problem for many, optional all inclusive have difficulty booking.
They would rather have the room empty, then giving the optional contract holder the room!!

I am sure they won't have any problems collecting the fees though. Sounds like a very poor business decision IMO.

Actually it's not a poor decision, many members get discouraged.

They sell, they convert to mandatory all inclusive and others probably
    walk away.

They fill the rooms with RCI, Which the RCI people pay more than owners.

You are making my point. Some convert and others walk away....walking away is never good for business. I am thinking you had a greater chance of having them become full members if you did not treat them like they had the were evil and wanted them no place near you. Filling them with a paying customer is not the same as leaving it empty either... I would not go there knowing that is how they are doing business- JMO. That said, I hope it gets sorted out for you and they reopen their casino.

Personally i love the resort, only resort i'm familiar with.

Nice large pool, right on the beach, all rooms have balconies, best
stretch of beach on Palm Beach.

We are booked for a return (5) to Barcello (former occidental) in March. Just got email that beach bar is now closed in order to comply with government regulations. Anybody know about this?
