I was on Redweek, and am seeing a studio timeshare at the Ocean Club for $900. i've seen a few of these, and wonder why the price is so cheap.
Has anyone had experience renting thru Redweek.com? Good or bad?

redweek is good.
i have rented thru and have rented out my units using redweek.

the price might be so inexpensive because the owner "needs" to rent it asap and/or is only looking for a small profit........needs to pay the maintenance.

my husband and i rent our lacabana units at only a small profit.
we need to pay our maintenance fees and if we bring in that maintenance fee plus another few hundred we are happy.

Thanks Andrea.
If you use their escrow company, is there any loophole that might cause you to lose your money and not get the week, or is it pretty secure?

Also, i don't think it would be because they need the money quickly, i would assume most people use the escrow service when they rent from owner (i wouldn't do it any other way) and that means they get the money after the rental week is past.

We also rent out some of our units at Lacabana during weeks 14 - 17 and I request a 50% deposit and then get a guest auth. and sent it to renter and at that time i request final payment. Never had a problem in 12 years.
I still have a ground floor studio 142b for rent week 16. at $650.00.

It looks like the Ocean Club listings in the $900-$1000 price range are listed as 0 bedrooms, one bath. What are those rooms like? How do they compare to the hotel rooms at the Stellaris? Bigger? Smaller? I assume these are the lockoffs, or whatever they are called, with no kitchen. Also, is there room cleaning in the time shares or are you on your own on those.
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but i never did this before and dont want to be dissappointed vs what i am used to.

Renting a timeshare can save tons of money. Many owners will rent their week for the amount of their annual fees. Some for even less if they are in a bind. There are many sites to find owner rentals. We got a week at the Renaissance ocean suites 4 years ago on ebay for $440.00. My niece rented a 3 bedroom at Costa Linda last year for $2000(8 people staying). We have gotten 2 bedrooms at CL for $900.00 a week. We have gotten 1 bedrooms at Aruba Beach Club for $600 and studios for $450. Rented a 1 bedroom at Playa Linda 2 years ago for $800. There is no catch to any of these. Just contact the resort and verify ownership before you pay. The web sites for Costa Linda, Playa Linda, Aruba Beach Club, Casa Del Mar and La Cabana all have a rental by owner section.
Last year we traded into Divi Phoenix thru RCI. We got a call from them after we got back and they offered us a week this year in a 1 bedroom or studio in the new towers if we would take their sales tour. We are going May 5th and staying a week in a 1 br for the total price of $799 all taxes and charges included. The studio would have been $599. I can buy a lot of meals with that price difference from AI or hotel rooms. We have also gotten hotel rooms on hotwire for 3 or 4 extra nights for less than $120 a night plus taxes etc. They dont tell you which hotel your staying at but the description says 4* resort, on the beach, with casino and restaurants. We have bought this 3 times and all 3 times it was the Westin(Wyndham). There are savings to be had if you know where to look.
