We stayed a few nights at the Marina Towers last October. It was nice. The bathroom was a little outdated but clean. The service was excellent and you are able to use both facilities. We found the Marina Hotel was loud at night due to the traffic. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay there.

We stayed there last year and it is very nice. The private island is awesome. It's complete with it's own restaurant, rest rooms and it was never crowded always plenty of room.

The boat picks you up in the lobby, excellent service and people.

OK--so here I am muddying the water--anyway we can now get the same$84 rate at the Marriott Stella which is father from downtown.
Any advice on which you would pick and why???
    Thanks!

the marriott hotel is about 4 miles from downtown

comparing the 2 resorts is like apples vs oranges.

but, the clincher for me is that the renaissance marina towers includes the "private island".

No....they run entirely independent of each other.

To answer this....it would be best to know what is important to you? I prefer Renaissance, as it it uniquely different from most resorts due to the private island. High rise beaches are a bit too busy for me.
If you want nightlife, Marriott Stellaris may be better.
If you want a highrise and are truly bargain shopping, try the Westin.

Stellaris rooms, pool and resort have just been renovated.
The resort is like a brand new one and it is more luxurious.

But like Rob said it depend on what you're looking for...

We frequent both. It really depends what you want. We prefer the Stellaris. You can walk to anything you want the resort is newer and you can take long walk on the beach.
