    Renaissance for a few nights

For our November trip I have been going back and forth about where to book an extra few nights after our Divi stay. I was leaning towards the Renaissance but there have been so many mixed reviews lately. Yesterday I got an email promotion from Expedia saying the rates had come down. Both Expedia and the hotel site were both reduced. I ended up booking an Ocean view 1 bedroom suite for $293 pn (including taxes) which seemed like a fair price. Now we'll finally get the chance to try more of the downtown restaurants.

The one bedrooms are at the Renaissance Ocean Suites.
A great convenient location and you'll get to use the private island

Okay I am being a blonde today...
What is the difference between the both?
We are staying downtown I think... the Renaissance.
Is one better than the other for the first time.
Only able to stay for five days.. but better than no days.
    Thanks everyone.

The Renaissance Marina is across from the harbor on the other side of LG Smith Blvd. from the Renaissance Ocean Suites and has the private island boats that pick you up in the lobby of the hotel. I think it is still adults only. We stayed there our first time to the island and loved it. Blu bar is always a stop when we go downtown. We are thinking of extending our upcoming stay for a few days at the Renn Marina.

    both downtown

marina tower is the one abutting the boulevard, attached to the mall and crystal casino. across the street from the marina and the paddock.
adult only resort. hotel rooms only. no suites.

ocean suites is located set back near the seaport casino. all are 1 bedroom with king bed and sleep sofa in living room.
some are timeshare some are used as hotel/transient. children allowed.

BOTH properties have the water taxi to the private island.

One is not necessarily better than the other.
    just different.

I'm looking forward to staying downtown. For me the decision was based on price and wanting to finally try some of the restaurants in the area that have been on my list for awhile. We'll probably check out the private island for one of the days. While the flamingos are pretty I'm not so sure about going to a beach where they roam free because of the inevitable bird droppings etc.

Oh, I think you will enjoy it immensely. We are Renaissance groupies and became that way because we blindly booked five nights at the Ocean Suites for our first trip ever to Aruba. We will be going back for trip number eight in April. As far as downtown restaurants, I highly recommend Que Pasa? and Yemanja, two of our favorites. The banana fritters at Que Pasa? are to die for! I've never thought about bird droppings but I can honestly say that I don't believe I have ever seen them. They probably fall into the water and the high salt content should act as a natural antibacterial I would imagine (I am a biologist). Anyway, once you see the private island you will probably forget about the droppings, lol. It's awesome!

I figure we can walk over and take photos of the flamingos then go back to the other side. I know I probably sound germophobic but DH is immuno suppressed so now I'm a little paranoid about these things. It's been awhile since we have been downtown. We have been to Que Pasa which we both enjoyed. Yemanja looks good so thank you for the recommendations!!
