Wonder what the justification is in doing the Marina tower before the Ocean tower?

I suspect that since the Marina side is at 100% a hotel, which means that the income of the rooms are more important than those of the Ocean side (simply put, the total income per week of an hotel room is superior to the weekly maintenance fee of a TS...), they simply decided to prioritize the side that brings more money first...

More, if you look at the TripAdvisor reviews about the Marina side you will notice that they are not that great mostly because of the needed renovations. Unhappy hotel guests will probably never come back, but unhappy TS owners will... So another reason to prioritize the Marina...

Like Cindy said Bad move but mostly for us owners...

Unfortunately a good argument for NOT purchasing a timeshare.

I couldn't say I'm not happy to own at the Renaissance, it's just that you have to realize that the Renaissance Hotel & Timeshares are run like any other businesses and profit is the focus point..., it's not like they aren't renovating the TS rooms to save it's just that they are beginning the renovations where it will be more profitable for them...

I read that article link Andrea. What do you think is meant by, "The current phase of the renovation will be completed this fall."

they are saying the current renovations going on at the renaissance marina tower will be competed by fall.
but remember, the construction in aruba is at a slower pace than we americans are used to. i would not count on it being completed in the fall...........but stranger things have been known to happen

    Renaissance Aruba renovating adult-only guestrooms

    By Gay Nagle Myers
Guest rooms at the 297-room, adults-only Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino Marina Hotel in Oranjestad are being renovated with new furnishings and colors designed to give the rooms a residential feel.

At a cost of $35,000 per room, rooms will feature wireless internet (charge is $15 per day), lounge areas, rain-style spa showers in the bathroom and a line of Renaissance bedding with down comforters, duvet covers and mattress toppers.

Guests will have access to the Renaissance Navigator program, which matches guests with hotel experts who map island itineraries and activities.

Guests also can access recommendations via the mobile Navigator app.

The current phase of the renovation will be completed this fall.

The 258 one-bedroom suites at the resort's family-friendly Ocean Suites property will be renovated in 2014.

Thanks Andrea. The wife and I went there this past December. Since, we now just learned they are renovating that may change our plans for this next December should we choose to go back to the Marina hotel. Keep us updated. Thanks again!

when we were at the "ocean suites" for 2 weeks in May, we were speaking with some folks that were staying on the 6th floor of the "marina tower". they told us that floor's renovation was complete, and that's the floor where they were staying for the week. they also said that they had no issues with any inconvenience or noise.
they are on schedule so maybe your stay at the "marina tower" in the fall is not out of the question.
