Hot Aruban sun, light luggage or not, that distance, you do NOT want to walk. If you do, make sure you wear a hat, apply plenty of sunscreen and bring and drink lots of water.

    Thanks so much everyone...

So after the priceline mishap (I wont recommend them)...I am so happy to feel so confident from the advice you all have given. My girl friends are asking me how I find out all this info and I just say "I got connections!". Thanks so much everyone, really. Aruba is my drug of choice! Such a visually stunning place for this small town girl!

Don't even think of it! I love walking and would not consider it.

if you don't leave a credit card they probably will ask for cash deposit of $50 per day..this is in case you charge anything to the room or for damages..you didn't book thru marriott so they need some security..

i've stayed at the renaissance 25 times and one time when my marina room wasn't ready they asked if we minded staying over at the ocean suites..there was no extra charge..you probably should have just shown up at the renaissance and checked in..they probably wouldn't have even said anything about the extra person..you could have gotten a room with 2 queen beds and shared or worst case rented a roll away cot for $10 per night..you're not going to be in the room that much anyway..

We ran into that difficulty a number of yrs ago at ren Marina. It was Paul, kevin and me. (before it became no kids allowed). They do not allow more than 2 and will evict if caught. We were transferred over to the ocean suites.

Well to save us the headache, we have upgraded our room to an Ocean View Ocean Suite across the street from the Marina part. I called and spoke to two different people who said that if we did not use a credit card, which we wont be...we dont necessarily have to put down a cash deposit. The only time you put down a cash deposit is when you want to open a line of "credit". This doesnt really make sense to me. We called the Renaissance once and they said it was a cash deposit of $100/day. Then we called again and the reservation manager, Juanita (who is soooo nice) said that no cash deposit is necessary even when you use a debit card. We called again and Juraima (spell check that) said the same thing. I am not really sure about the deposit and its seems like every other person is giving us different info. Just incase we are bringing an extra debit card with cash on it for the deposit.
