the ritz hired DJ CHUCKIE oversee the sound system in the disco, the budget,4.5 million dollars!! my opinion, looking for aruba too compete with st. barts crowd.
what a downer, my very good friend will almost certainly lose his fisherman hut.......
pretty sad, as the huts are my stomping grounds for dominoes.

Has anyone heard the room rates? I am hearing all kinds of wild prices from $900.00 for a room to $7,000.00 for a suite. Prices are per night. Anyone hear anything different? ? ? At those rates, I don't no anyone that will stay there. . . . Also, with the slow economy in the states, I wonder how they plan to fill it? ? ? ?

While staying at the Surf Club last June, my wife and I did the 90 minute Marriott timeshare presentation. The sales lady we were working with told us they are most likely going to go for around $1000 per night, for a "normal" room! I was shocked and laughed at her. She was dead serious! We told her Good Luck booking that many rooms at that price!

Arrow Using a comparable island for reference

I used Grand Cayman as an island for a comparison.
    01/13/2013-01/16/2013
Westin Aruba $443 vs. Westin Grand Cayman $415

People WILL pay the prices as evidenced by the dates sold out [in Grand Cayman] at the end of this month/beginning of next.

They have varying pricing depending upon the portion of the season, but

    HIGH SEASON

599.00 USD / Night ( WITH taxes in GC comes to $787/night)
Guest room, 1 King, Sofabed, Garden view, Resort Tower, Balcony
The rate for this room changes on 1/13/13 to 659.00 (USD) per night

699.00 USD / Night (without tax)
Guest room, 2 Queen, Garden view, Resort Tower, Balcony
The rate for this room changes on 1/13/13 to 759.00 (USD) per night

LOW SEASON- PRICING DOES not include taxes!

    399.00 USD / Night
Guest room, 1 King, Sofabed, Garden view, Resort Tower, Balcony

    449.00 USD / Night
Guest room, 1 King, Sofabed, Resort view, Resort Tower, Balcony

    449.00 USD / Night
Guest room, 2 Queen, Garden view, Resort Tower, Balcony

    499.00 USD / Night
Guest room, 2 Queen, Resort view, Resort Tower, Balcony

    549.00 USD / Night
Guest room, 1 King, Sofabed, Oceanfront, Ocean Tower, Balcony

    599.00 USD / Night
Guest room, 2 Queen, Oceanfront, Ocean Tower, Balcony

    649.00 USD / Night
Club Resort View, Club lounge access, Guest room, 1 King or 2 Queen, Resort view, Resort Tower

    749.00 USD / Night
Club Ocean Front, Club lounge access, Guest room, 1 King or 2 Queen, Ocean Tower, Balcony

    799.00 USD / Night
Blue Tip, 1 Bedroom Suite, 1 King, Sofabed, Bathrooms: 1.5, Blue Tip Golf view, Golf view

    1,300.00 USD / Night
2 Bedroom Residential Suite, Bedroom 1: 1 King, Bedroom 2: 2 Queen, Sofabed, Bathrooms: 2

    1,600.00 USD / Night
3 Bedroom Residential Suite, Resort view, Ocean Tower, Balcony

    1,650.00 USD / Night
2 Bedroom Residential Suite, Bedroom 1: 1 King, Bedroom 2: 2 Queen, Sofabed, Bathrooms: 2

    2,000.00 USD / Night
2 Bedroom Residential Suite, Bedroom 1: 1 King, Bedroom 2: 1 King, Sofabed, Bathrooms: 2

    2,050.00 USD / Night
3 Bedroom Residential Suite, Ocean view, Ocean Tower, Balcony

    2,500.00 USD / Night
3 Bedroom Residential Suite, Oceanfront, Ocean Tower, Balcony

    2,800.00 USD / Night
Opal or Sapphire, 2 Bedroom Presidential Suite, Oceanfront, Ocean Tower, Balcony

Using comparable pricing for Aruba vs. Grand Cayman, the cheapest room at the Ritz including taxes will probably start at about $520 per night.

We took the timeshare tour at Marriott this past September (we own at the Surf). We were told about $1000 a night also at the Ritz. Neither the Ritz or Marriott websites mention the property yet. I would imagine supply and most definitely demand will set the actual prices, though they seem a little crazy to me. A two week stay at the Ritz would equal buying a timeshare or two for life just about anywhere else on Aruba, but some people have more dollars than they have sense.

Thats a BIG property to be filling at a minimum of $399 a night. I am sure you will see some significant discounts to get the property to a decent level of occupancy.
