being on the beach with a happy little cocktail IS the best - you're right!

I know it's a total splurge to book that jacuzzi suite, but I'm treating myself after a bad divorce (put my husband through 8 years of grad school & he dumped me one month after defending his dissertation - a real sweetheart!)

    48 days to go!

How do some people live with themselves?

That's just evil. Sorry to hear that.

Thanks Chip. It was pretty heinous. But I made it through and now I'm taking care of ME first! (what a novel idea....)

So, I've thrown down the gauntlet (at myself) and I'm going to do 5 nights in Aruba with ................just a carry-on!

Am I crazy? Can it be done? Seems that we all tend to over pack, so if I take the smart advice here, I should be able to fit everything I need in the regulation size 22" x 14" x 9" carry-on and the rest in my handbag. (I've decided to just buy toiletries in Aruba to get around that 3oz. rule.)

Girls, can this daunting task be accomplished? Just bikinis, shorts, tops, sandals, sundress, right?

When we stayed at the Westin, we overlooked the Jucuzzi suites of the RIU. the beachfront suites were literally right on the boardwalk -- kind of nosiy if you ask me.

I've requested a balcony, so hopefully it won't be too noisy.

I'll share all I know about Riu when I get back in February.

Isn't the Riu all-inclusive? In that case, the happy hours should be great!!!

    Talking 16 days to go!

It is all-inclusive, but I'm certainly going to venture out to all the excellent restaurants and sites everyone posts about. I only book all-inclusives for the convenience. I don't really want to be bothered too much with handling money.

I'm definitely only taking a carry-on, so I need to stop at a drugstore to buy some toiletries (like a CVS.) Any suggestions?

To everyone who frequents Aruba regularly, where would you suggest my first happy hour cocktail be to really get appreciate the Aruba vibe?

    Thanks!

the best place to buy toilettries is the supermarket/grocery store. Great prices and they have EVERYTHING you will need.
happiness is going to Aruba with your adult kids because they still want to come with their parents

The swim up bar at the Riu itself or Bugaloe on the pier out over the water between the Riu and Radisson.
