negatives:
the riu looks like it does not belong on the piece of dirt/beach where it stands.

it is a huge almost taj mahal like building looking totally out of place.

palm beach / high rise area congested.

postives:
you are 100% paid
all u have to do is to tip
you can drink and eat to your content
great beach, lots of shade
magnificent pool(s)
nice casino
food has good reviews (check dress code)
if you get tired of the riu's restaurants, you have tons of choices (madam janette and passion and tulip to name a few)
watersports all nearby (right nextdoor)

way more positives than negatives

and even thought the structure is differnet looking...............it is a magnificent resort

can i come with you?

Dh and I discussed it this trip and he said he would never stay there if he has to wear long pants to dinner, which I believe men are required. I could be wrong... but definitely something to inquire about if your dh is like mine.

Thanks for the timely response Andrea. Sound like we're going to have a great time. The positives do out weight the neg that you wrote of. Your more than welcome to go but we don't know how much you'll see of us.

If anyone else has feedback then please inform us.

Thanks

Given what some of the locals have told me about the construction of the building, RIU will never see a dime of my money. In Aruba or anywhere else.

Riu

No, its not under construction. I just think most people are very unhappy with the appearance and size of the building. Also, this resort does not give you the same experience as the other resorts. It is staff by people from the Dominican Republic. They do not have the same warm and pleasing mannerisims that you find in the Arubans. Also, the building is very bare. No palm trees around the pool, very windy location and very large.

It is beautiful, if you're looking for a Las Vegas type of honeymoon. The food is good and plentiful, but is that all you're looking for?

This might sound terrible...but i can't stand looking at that building...and I guess the old saying, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" holds true for me here..
