    Spotlight Hotel/Resort ~~~~ The Ritz

Paul and I have been in the building and on the grounds 4 times.
3x at the casino and once for a brief tour from the manager on duty.

Paul's opinion is is that it is too stiff, too business like, but loved the pool and beach area
My opinion of the lobby is also too business like, and the pool area kind of sparse and "sterile"

That being said,if the price were right I would love to stay there for a few days.

Each time we were on Ritz property we were greeted by numerous staff and it seemed quite genuine.

When i asked the manager for a brief tour, we were given the tour readily and with a smile.

We've walked thru many times. Once to be nosy on the week it opened, another to check out the gift shop, and another to grab a night cap at one of the bars.
During all visits the place was empty. Pool looks great, bar outside looks like it could have been fun if there were people there, lobby stark and un -welcoming.
while staying at Surf Rob and I walked the beach daily and would often stop at Ritz for some fruit flavored water on their beach. Beach side chairs weren't anything special, tables looked like the ones they sell at Lowes for $6.99, but we did like the little pulley flag you hoisted for service . Also cool Segway at the bar to deliver your orders chair side.

While they are part of the Marriott properties I would choose to use our reward points at Stellaris before I used them there. Point value high!

    Love to hear others opinions

I was was under the assumption it was going to become a JWMarriott soon, anyone else hear that?

we checked it out, too. the staff is very attentive from when you walk in the door. However, I have to agree, very business like. It doesn't have an island resort feel to it. I felt like I could be in any city anywhere, not on Aruba or any other island for that matter. If I'm going to pay that kind of money, I want to feel like I am in an island paradise from the second I step on the property. Even the front feels very ordinary, very hotel like, very business like.

either way, it'll remain in the marriott famiy

they have been open now about 15 mos. i wonder if they have had a period of time when they were booked at capacity or even at 85% ?

I too walked there many mornings when staying at the Holiday Inn. I found the beach area a little "odd" and empty feeling. Not enough vegetation (those "bushes" are weird being on the beach). I've seen pics of the rooms, and they do not entice me to stay there. The balcony table and chairs also look like they came from Walmart. Some of the decor and color schemes seem 70s'ish to me.

We walked around the place and visited the casino a couple times and my feeling of the hotel in general is that it was out of place and belonged in a big city, downtown location.

Lastly, it is way over our budget. I have seen some rates as high as $900 night depending on the time of year (I'm sure off season is not that high). I also would like to know if they get close to capacity.

When we walked by on the beach my husband asked if they were even open. I guess if you have the money and want to be on Palm Beach, this would be a quiet option. This isn't the best photo, but notice how there are no people using the umbrellas or chairs.

I'm guessing the views from those suites on top are spectacular!
