Staying at the Westin

Hi:
I will be traveling to Aruba soon for the first time ever! So excited.
Just wondering if anyone has stayed at the Westin and has anything to suggest - personal experience, favorite nearby restaurants, etc
Thanks!

Welcome to our little obsession. Never stayed at the weston but just wanted to wish you a great time. Hope this is the first of many trips there.

I've never stayed at the Westin, but it is very nice. We stay at the Raddison which is a few hotels away. We always hit the Westin at least once to gamble at their casino. There are many restaurants in walking distance of the Westin if you don't want to take a cab. I've never had a bad experience at any of the restuarants. What kind of food are you looking for?

thanks for the replies

thanks for the welcome and information.
not particular about restaurants, really

one more question - have you ever used De Palm Tours as transport service from Airport to hotel? Is it good option versus taxi? Seems a bit cheaper but if it takes forever not necessarily worth it...

Never took a cab from the airport only Depalm. takes about 1/2 hour but its at the beginning of your vacation so who's in a hurry. You also get a quick look at some other hotels. I like depalm for the ride in but take a cab on the way out.

There are plenty of suggestions on things to do at http://www.aruba.com/forum/tags/first%20time.html

Mouse over on this map and you can see the different resort locations and their proximity to the Westin as well as the locations of some restaurants.

There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as a short taxi ride away.
restaurants
restaurants inexpensive
restaurants romantic
favorite restaurant

I just got back in Feb after staying at the RIU, right next store to the Westin. You will love the Westin we particularly liked the Casino as it was noablt tiny, but very accomadating. The beach is beautiful. You will be fine with depalm tours . You can save a few minutes taking a cab, because you would leave the airport sooner, but depalm is very efficient, so save the extra dollars. Enjoy your vacation, you will return for a second and more.
