La cabana beach chairs and poolside tables/chairs

Do you really have to get up at 3pm on vacation to get a beach chair/umbrella ? and is it getting harder to get pool chairs also? We did not have any issues last year with the pool and only went to beach once. We plan to go to the beach more this year since my son is older. BUT DO NOT want to get up at 3am on vacation... crazy. To read about this is worrying me now

if you want a front row ....then 6 am is probably the time to go (based on my experiences)
if you do not mind a spot a few rows back you can get there as late as 10 am or maybe even later

but....during Carnival and Christmas New Years season, i have heard that people do get to the beach before 5 am.

people do what they gotta do i guess

    when are you going?

when we stay at lacabana, we typically take a table and lounges at the pool. we stay for the day but do cross the street to hop into the ocean once or twice for a half hour or so. we have a vacation vault so have no issues leaving small things locked up there at the pool.

doing that may be your best option. be forewarned that you cannot leave the spot at the pool unattended for more than 2 hours.[

Andrea, I own at Lacabana. We have not been in three years but are going this summer. Could you tell me what a vacation vault is? I assume some kind of safe? thanks so much.

a vacation vault is a plastic box like thing that attaches and locks to a secure post/beam/rod (umbrella at lacabana) where one stores small things while you are in the pool/ocean and away from your stuff.
check out this thread VACATION VAULT (what do i do w/ my stuff?)

    Beach Chairs

Sadly, this rude behavior of claiming chairs, tables, etc. continues at most resorts in Aruba. They sit unoccupied most of the day with towels and bags holding their spots. Unconscionable!

At lacabana tables and lounges poolside and on beach are only allowed to remain unoccupied for 2 hrs. Same with Renaissance. If after 2 hrs the stuff is gathered and brought to security or pool towel hut.

We just returned from the LaCabana (June 8-16)

We would arrive at the beach around 11 am and we were lucky to secure a cabana (3 rows back). The beach was not as busy and plenty of empty cabanas.

On the days we did not go to the beach we were able to get a table close to the pool with an umbrella.

I did notice the same people at the same tables every morning. I am sure they were there early to get the same tables.

    Enjoy your trip!

The chair "game" takes place on every resort (aruba and elsewhere) and at every pool and every cruise boat I have ever been to. It is one of those things that you just learn to deal with.

I have always been of the opinion - if you are leaving for more than an hour - you should give up your chair. But it would take a couple full time employees to actually monitor this - and it seems a bit silly. I never minded getting up early to secure a good spot... and if I sleep in I am willing to take what is left.
