Thumbs up RCI Exchange

Hi Everyone,

Looking for some help as how to navigate the RCI Timeshare Websitel We bought and banked two RCI Red Weeks in Chautauqua Lake, NY and would like to trade for a week in Aruba. We own at the Renaissance week 16, and see the Ren is affiliated with II, Marriott. Should we aim for Costa Linda or the Divi links for week 15 or 17. as RCI offers these as trades.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hi Aruba Mark and Rob O! The Renaissance is still my favoritel

Cheers,
Susan

PS Chautauqua Lake is awesome! I caught two Walleye on my first attempt!

Sue.....no advice other than to go for week 15 and invite your friends to come over and visit from their stay at Renaissance!

Another Brilliant Idea!

That sounds like a great idea. Stay at one and play at two! Still will have to do some research as to what the Divi Phoenix, Links, and Costa Linda are like. I assume they are in the low rise section. If you have stayed at these resorts, please give me your opinion.

Thinking of Aruba,

Susan

Susan, let us know if you are successful getting a trade in Aruba thru RCI. Our friends have points through Bluegreen (traded to points from a guaranteed week at La Cabana ) and have since been unsuccessful trading anywhere in Aruba with banked points through RCI! Only option that came up for a brief time was at the Occidental. They required you take the AI (which they didn't want) and would have had to pay an additional $157 pp for the AI. To date, they still have been unable to secure a different resort in Aruba at any time through 2010! Very frustrating!

Smile Rci trade

Dear EHampite,

If trading into Aruba can be done, I will learn how to do it. The one mistake your friend made was probably trading into points. To me this equates into the vast abyss of eternal nothingness. RCI gives you the choice of banking weeks or turning them into points. We KEPT the weeks. If you are computer savvy , they show you exactly what they have, and what dates are available. Your friends could contact RCI directly and speak with a REAL person(1-800-338-7777) but this will add an additional fee, and you are not directly looking on screen at the resort they are trading.

If anyone else has additional information, keep it coming!

Cheers,
Susan

Hi Susan - Yes, our friends now realizes the mistake made trading into points. They really regret doing that! They have asked if they can get their week back but so far have been told "no." I think they are still trying, but not holding out much hope. They have gone online to check availability in Aruba and were only able to find Occidental. Does it make a difference if you bank weeks vs points as to what resorts are available? Just curious.

We don't own a time share and aren't really familiar with the details of how they work. I will pass along to them any info you or any other experts can offer up! Thanks for your input.

Susan, We own over 60 weeks of timeshare and I can trade into Aruba with Interval International just about 48 weeks out of the year but 3 of our weeks are with RCI and I can never trade for Aruba. I look everyday and I am trying to give my RCI weeks away. They are 2 bedroom lock-offs at Branson Misouri at a gold crown resort. All you would have to do is pay the closing and they are yours. Any takers e-mail me direct. kentgerber@adamswells.com

Hi Sue!

Your best solution is maybe to try to rent for cash your two weeks in Chautauqua Lake, NY and then find some rentals at the Renaissance.

Thumbs up Trading Places

Good Morning Everyone,

Well I took your word that it is difficult to trade into Aruba, so I am flying into Las Vegas tomorrow. That is not a bad last minute trade! I still have another shot at a week into Aruba and I have until 2012 to do it. Plenty other resorts in the Caribbean look wonderful too. As Qlaval suggested, I may choose to rent another week at the Renaissance for April 2010.

Kent, I wouldn't be so quick to "give" away your timeshare in Branson. The rumor on the street is they are building a major Airport there!

Viva Las Vegas!

Wish me luck,
Susan
