Renting a TS for first time through Redweek.com

Hubby and I were thinking of renting a time share at Playa Linda through Redweek.com. We have been going to Aruba for the past 12 years and usually stay in one of the hotels. Has anyone used Redweek? and if so, do you have any advice or questions that are a must to ask the owner. Thanks for your help.

I forgot to mention, make sure the unit is up to date in maint. fee's or they won't let the owner rent the unit out. Make sure you are renting the week they own, not one they moved for you. Some complications could happen and additional charges.

redweek

I use redweek all the time. I am someone who rents my units out and someone who rents to others. I have been using it for almost 2 years and it has been very successful. Its a win/win situation for both parties. You save money and the owners get their units rented.

When I rent out one of my units, I send my clients a quick one paragraph 'lease' where I agree that I am the owner of xxx unit and that I am renting it to Mrs XXX for the week of XX for the total sum of XX. Once payment is received I will notify the resort of the person using the unit and forward the tenant a confirmation. I usually sign and fax it and ask the person renting to do the same when they send back payment.

As a precaution to you, you could check the resort to verify that they are the actual owners of the unit in question and that they are permitted to rent. I have to be honest, I rented 20 weeks out to others this year, and I only had one person verify my ability to rent. Most people using this are honest.

If you have any other questions, you can email me at macalh@aol.com.
