Well we arrived yesterday in beautiful Aruba.

I do do have to admit that Tropicana is not exactly what I had pictured in my mind. It's a little more run down than what I had thought. I know we're staying in one of the older rooms but for those that had told me the pictures for other places on airbnb were deceiving, I think the pictures for this place are a little deceiving as well for the rooms.

Check in took forever and I not sure why they kept saying they had to check with housekeeping to see if the room is ready. If check in is at a certain time, isn't that the time all rooms should be ready for guests?

Our refrigerator isn't working, I don't think, because absolutely nothing is getting cold in there and you can't feel any cold. The tub has cracks everywhere and at first I thought it was hairs all over it. There's absolutely NO water pressure and I'm not even sure how I going to wash mine or my daughters hair because we both have very long hair. The unit we are in doesn't have a dishwasher or washer or dryer and the ice tray is enough for only 1 cup. On the patio there's cigarettes everywhere and I found 2 rusty nails and broken concrete. The door to the patio is hard to open and shut and is so warped that the bottom doesn't shut. I'm making sure I leave the chain on do safety, but can't do that when we leave from there to go to the pool. I tried to make dinner last night and took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to get the water to boil. I'm not sure if the plate is just. It getting hot enough or not. The pull out couch is so thin and filthy with stains all over it and so are the sheets and blankets. Lastly...they gave my husband and I 2 beds instead of a king as booked and requested and confirmed with the owner. They are already pushing buying time share here and called our room at 8 this morning...so much for sleeping in after traveling yesterday.

We are still going to have an amazing vacation while here. Nothing will get in the way of that. It's just not what I had expected and maybe it's just the unit I'm in. I don't want to sound like a complainer but I do report what I see in honesty without holding back. I guess it's time to get rolling and head to the beaches and see this beautiful island. Have a great day everyone.

I would go to the reservations people and request another room. I would think that the fridge not working would be reason enough. They might offer to upgrade you to a renovated room, but that would be an additional daily fee. They should, at least, find you a room with a better fridge. I would definitely have housecleaning come give the room a thorough cleaning if you end up staying in the unit.

I would also request (demand, but in a nice way) another room if the frig is not working - that is completely unacceptable. You have a great attitude about your vacation - hope you can get a new room and enjoy your time in Aruba.

Your attitude about a great time..... but I really believe they owe you a different room..... none of what you've mentioned is acceptable.... under any circumstances.

Since you rented from a private owner I would think that you need to contact him.

    Document with photos too.

Sorry to hear the challenges with your room. I'd definitely contact both the AirBnB host and the front desk. I'd actually considered booking a Tropicana room through AirBnB but decided against it as it seemed the reviews on several sites were only positive when staying in the renovated rooms...and I realized we'd likely be assigned an older room without paying the upgrade fee. Ended up renting a house through another host.

Hope things improve and definitely look forward to hearing of your adventures.

Ouch, I would demand to see another room as your living conditions are substandard at best.

This does not sound like the Trop that I know and have stayed in for 9 years. Please contact the main desk and I am sure they will find another unit for you.
