I fill a whole suitase with with non perishable items. It saves money. We make our own breakfast and lunch and we go out for dinner. We go to the grocery store for bread, milk etc. Definately bring you own floats.

This is what I bring

crystal light (buy a gallon of water)
paper cups
paper plates
salt and pepper
splenda/sugar
a pound of dunkins coffee
peanut butter
jelly in plastic squeeze bottle
cereal
baggies
EZ MAC
Instant oatmeal
fruit snacks
sport bottles for the kids drinks

Here is the best piecce of advie I can give you. Buy a small soft sided cooler on wheels, fold it up and pack in luggage or I take mine as my carry on with a few toys for the kids in it. You will be so glad to bring your own drinks to the pool/beach. I make pina coladas in the room, put them in gallon size ziploccks and freeze. When we go to beach or pool I bring plastic cups and we have our own drinks. They are perfecct!

We stayed at the surf club last May and we are staying again May 31 this year

Have FUN!!

You can buy anything on the island, but it is much more expensive than in the states. Anything you can get in your luggage, like coffee, tea, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, mayo, cereal, etc. The non-perishable 'have tos'. Get everything else at Ling and Son. Its a grocery store, just like in the states.

Liquor is very expensive on the island and especially at the Marriott. If you can safely pack in your luggage, do so. If not, but it at the airport prior to going through customs when you arrive. If you have a plane change in SJU, you can get it there and you can carry it on your connection as a duty free item. Do NOT buy in the gift shop. Its at least double the normal price.

As for a cooler bag, I agreee.

Oh, and you do NOT need to buy water. Aruba has the most expensive and BEST water in the world. I drink ONLY bottled water here in the states. In Aruba, I drink theirs. They spend millions to desalinate their water.

Hi Ginette,

This is what is supplied in the rooms:

Every year we have gone there has been coffee filters, a sponge, dish soap and dishwasher soap. They also give you a little welcome box but the contents vary year to year so I wouldn't count on something specific being in there. Definitely bring your own tubes/rafts for the lazy river -much cheaper and easy to pack. There is an air hose down by the towel hut so you can fill it up there.

Every person has their own system. Some swear by packing a suitcase of all the necessities. Some pack hardly anything and get it when they land. A few trips to the Surf Club and you will find what works best for you. We tend to go on the minimal side, but that is just what we prefer. I pack light for clothes and toss in a small load of laundry for all of us most nights as we are getting ready for dinner. We either stop by Ling and Sons or have them deliver a few things. There is a Dunkin Donuts across from the Holiday Inn so we grab a pound of coffeee there. We make breakfast in the room, split a lunch at the pool bar and then eat dinner out.

Enjoy your trip! And be sure to post your trip report!

~ Liz

ps. jojo777 - we will be checking out as you are checking in. Can't wait to be there!
