    Bill, check their website

    http://www.delta.com/traveling_check...ates/index.jsp
"Swine Flu Travel Information: Delta is carefully monitoring the swine flu outbreak in Mexico and other locations. We also regularly review recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure the safety and health of our passengers and employees.
If you are traveling to/from Mexico, a travel waiver is currently in place allowing for flights to be rescheduled without extra fee or penalty for those who wish to do so. Check here for your options.
Additional information about the swine flu can also be reviewed on the CDC's Web site.

    OK, I have three choices.
1- cancel, lose our money except the $250 per person air fare, Love Delta.
2- change location for a hefty amount. More than I can do.
3- go with the hotel upgrade (IBEROSTAR PARAISO LINDO) and hope for the best.

Why don't you change the date and wait for this to blow over?

Will Delta allow you to apply the fee to purchase of new tickets to a "safe" destination? If you booked through Delta Vacations, I do not understand why they will not allow you to switch islands. IF you did book through Delta Vacations try contacting corporate, maybe public relations and work your way up the "chain". Persistence is going to be key.

Also, you get more with sugar than you do with vinegar, but I would forcefully remind them of the FACT, including your source below for the information, that the U.S. government is still advising U.S. citizens NOT to trave to Mexico --

    2009 H1N1 Influenza
    April 28, 2009
The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens of the health risks of travel to Mexico at this time due to an outbreak of 2009-H1N1 influenza (“swine flu).” The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on April 27 issued a notice recommending that American citizens avoid all nonessential travel to Mexico at this time."

What part does Delta just not get?

This is why I love this site!!! We booked through a travel agent. It is the hotel that will not budge. I would say they are loosing a lot of money over this. We have the option of changing destinations but we cant afford the price change. The bast*#@^s raised the prices because (My opinion) of what is going on. I hate to say it but changing the date never crossed my mind. I will look into that but I have to arrange my vaca around work. Thanks so much for your input.

Okay, now I get it. Maybe contact your credit card company and see if they can apply some leverage on the hotel? I know AMEX is REALLY good with stuff like this. Otherwise, your best option may be to change the dates, but then you are still stuck with the airfare change. If that is the case, I would still "plead" with Delta because of circumstances beyond your control.

I would argue for sure, how can they keep you to the reservation when no airlines are flying there? Change your date as a last resort but good idea to check with your CC company.
