he wants vegas or aruba, but really wants to go to vegas as he has never been.

If you plan to take in a show or two, I would also recommend the Beatles show (Love) and The Jersey Boys. Both are fantastic and I'd be hardpressed to pick one over the other. Also, if you have time, we really enjoy going downtown to the Freemont Street casinos and to see the evening light show. We've never gone long enough to see the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam, but I'd like to one day.

I understand your dilemma, Andrea. It would be hard to postpone your Aruba trip, but there is a lot of fun to be had in Las Vegas too, and, of course, there's always the final cost of the trip to consider.
    ---------------------------------

My husband just surprised me with a spur of the moment Las Vegas trip next week - eek. We have frequent flyer miles to use, so that's a huge savings. The Palazzo has a $109/night special on the week days, and that's really hard to beat for a quality suite. (It's $169 Friday night. We're returning on Saturday, but Sat night it went up to $350ish).

I just booked Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil. We've been told that it's a great show, and it's been sold out when we were there in the past. The site I was on did say it was closing Aug 31, and the main page for the show says this is its final season, so this may be the end of the line. If it's anywhere near as good as Beatles Love, I'll be thrilled.

Unfortunately, we won't make it out to the Grand Canyon on this trip either. We're getting in late Tuesday night and leaving Saturday morning, but one day we'll make it.

I surprised my wife with a long weekend planned in Las Vegas at the end of August to celebrate our anniversary. Used frequent flyer miles for the airfare and got a good deal at the Aria for a suite for 3 days. I figure it's a nice blend...Aruba in July and LV in August and I get to reinvest the money I just won at the Marriott casino.

We would probably go to Aruba in May 2013 but checking out
Vegas for November. Also we would fit in Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.
I'm heading back out in the middle of October for a trade show and then trying to stretch the trip to the 20th to catch Buffett at the MGM Grand. We did one of the sightseeing flights over the grand canyon and a tour of the Hoover dam a few years ago. I would also suggest red rock canyon if you get a rental car. It's 20-ish minutes from the strip and you can spend two hours or all day, depending on your mood. I usually get rental cars for $10 or less per day, so it's usually worth it to me. Buying a case of water at the grocery store and keeping it in the room, instead of buying bottles in the shops, just about pays for the car by itself.

just got back from vegas..used caersar total rewards comps..6 nights $100..$40 first night 4 comp nights $60 last night..all at paris..girl at check in tried to upsell me to a suite..said no and she then whispered to me if you take care of me i'll take care of you..i slipped her a c-note and she gave us a 27th floor strip view suite with wrap around window views of the entire strip..wife was happy which made me a lucky guy..

ate at margaritaville, texas de brazil, pinks hotdogs of california, and a few other nice places..did alot of walking..went to see the store from the show pawn stars..alot of fun..went to alot of fat tuesday's for their alcoholic slurpies..

if you go see the grand canyon i highly recommend taking a 9 seat cesna plane ride to the canyon..it's 7 hours door to door..hour and change out and back and about a 3 hour tour around the canyon..have done it twice and it's amazing..it's $200 per person..

alot of great shopping..they even have two outlet centers..one on the north end and one on the south end of the strip..went to fremont street but there were even more freaks out than usual..oh well..can't have it all..LOL..
