Ooooh Cindy, wish I could come!!!

When we were there in May, 3 of us wore Kokoa Beach Bar crew shirts, and 1 was in her Smokey Joe's shirt that Steven once gave her in Aruba.

I am sure you guys will have a fantastic evening

Please tell Steven the Norwegian girl said hi

We arrived with our shirts on.
Asked if Aruba steve was there.
Waiter said yes and pointed him out.
Said we wanted to say hi. Asked twice, he left without a word.
We were the only people in there , just us 4.
Had an Aruba Ariba (x2) and ate.
Thats all i am going to say.
He blew us off.

I was looking forward to going and meeting Steve. I see no reason to return as he apparently felt we weren't worth welcoming if even for thirty seconds. Call me perplexed and disappointed.....I only work a few blocks away and I was hoping to like it.

Explanation

Hi All,

This is Mrs. Aruba Steve. Blame the lack of interaction on me as I was late for a doctor's appointment that Steven had to bring me to. I'm sure he did not intend for you to experience his lack of friendliness as Steven truly enjoys meeting people - especially past customers of his restaurants in Aruba. So - just wanted to clear things up - he left abruptly because he is a fantastic husband and partner. Owning a new business comes with many challenges - balancing business with a family life is one of them. Please accept my apologies. Hope to see you back soon at Aruba Steve's in Providence.

Best,
Jessalyn

Response from Aruba Steve himself

I do not really know where to begin, or how to respond to this. Obviously I am excited that people are willing to make their way into Providence just to visit Aruba Steve's. We are so new that I can't really ask for much more. This attention I am getting on Aruba.com only shows the loyalty and love people have towards Aruba not to mention the dedication to have countdowns for their next trip. My whole concept is to give people who cannot be in Aruba all the time the feeling that they are there, even if for a little while. I have chosen our most popular items from the three menus we have in Aruba that I can replicate here, to make it that much easier. I wish I could do the ribs, but at this point in time I can't.

To get to the point of this response...

Anyone who says "He blew us off." has obviously never met me and has no idea the type of person I am. The one thing I pride myself on is meeting new people and my guests. I am the new place in town and I also have the "Aruba" mentality behind my theme so being friendly is what I am about. Unfortunately it so happens that you caught me on a day where I had just arrived from Vegas a few hours earlier, had been in staff and other meetings most of the afternoon, and had to take my wife to the doctor. I understand the motivation for wanting to meet me, and I appreciate it; and I apologize for not being able to meet you guys. To think that I intentionally didn't come say hi, is just plain lunacy, but I cannot change how you feel, I can only apologize. I want to assure you that if and or when you come back, and this goes for everyone that visits us at Aruba Steve's, that I will be myself and show you just how good a host I am.

Again I want to apologize, not make excuses for your visit to Aruba Steve's. You may have asked to meet me and you may have been pointed out who I am, however I was not informed. Timing is everything in life and at that moment I was out of it, please accept my apology and I hope to meet you one day in the future.

Steven

Dear mr and mrs aruba steve's,
You honestly didn't need to respond.
You are making a far bigger thing of this than necessary. :>)
Apology accepted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also to note, we live in RI, 15 minutes away. We are in Prov all the time.

I will say we asked the gentleman that was on, and our waitress, a young girl, to tell you we wanted to say HI...as we are aruba lovers and were psyched to come to a little taste of it. They were both very pleasant.

We were the only ones in there at 5:45.
Hope Mrs. had a good dr appt. that evening.
Best wishes with your business.

Happy 4th
Cindyo
