Cabo San Lucas instead...
After doing 4 beach trips in a row in 18 months to Aruba we have decided to mix it up this October for our 5th wedding anniversary. (We are still going back to Aruba for New Years Eve) We decided on trying out an all inclusive in Cabo. We have not stayed AI since 2003 when we stayed at Sandals Negril in Jamaica.
The hotel we have pretty much set our minds on is the Riu Palace Cabo. Anyone have any info or suggestions about Cabo? What sold me on Cabo is we paid almost $1000 a plane ticket to get to Aruba for New Years. Cabo - with airfare all inclusive for the 2 of us is only going to cost $2500 or so. It was an easy decision!

Hmmm.. interesting! Will take into consideration. I don't think we are planning on leaving the resort much. Certainly a change of pace from what we are used to in Aruba.

I went to the Westin in Cabo on a company business trip a few years ago in February. My general impressions were:
-there are actually 2 towns- the old Cabo is a slice of old Mexico. The newer town reminded me of being in San Diego- very modern with lots of stores. -I always felt safe walking around, although things have gotten a bit more dangerous in general in Mexico since then. -the beaches were very nice, but the Pacific is definitely a lot colder to swim in than the Atlantic in NJ or the Caribbean. Snorkeling was fine, but the water was cold-although it should be warmer in October when you go. -restaurants were good, although nothing great-except for the tequila, of course ![]() -the topography is beautiful. Lots of red rock formations and beautiful scenery. I guess there is plenty of poverty but they do a good job of hiding it. The airport is super modern as this is a favorite spot for people to fly their planes down from So. Cal. for the weekend-only about a 1 hour flight. The hotels and time shares are very modern and very pretty and there a lots of upscale stores. All in all, we enjoyed Cabo but have never thought of going back.
