Andrea- Nice cruise report. We have taken 2 cruises and had fun on both but we do prefer spending our time on Palm Beach. Our first cruise was to Alaska on Norwegian and was spectacular. The ports and excursions were touristy but it truly was a once in a lifetime experience-not often do you wake up in the middle of glaciers. Our family Western Caribbean trip on Royal Caribbean (Jamaica, Cozumel, Cayman) was fun because we were all together and the ship was fantastic, but I ditto your assessment of the ports. Stingray City in Grand Cayman was lots of fun and great snorkeling too.
Very excited that my Aruba ticker is below 6 months!
I've been on one cruise to the Bahamas. I personally did not care for it, nor do I care to go again. I get motion sickness, and the patch helped. Good thing - we hit a huge storm on the way home and that baby was rockin'! I didn't like being captive on the ship - I'm not a pool person and would much rather stick my toes in the sand.

For years we cruised almost every year. We decided that we wanted to go on a cruise that stopped in Aruba because we had heard that it was a nice island to visit. We couldn't find the cruise we wanted, so we decided, heck, why don't we just go to Aruba? That was a few years ago, and we have been hooked on Aruba ever since. We rarely cruise at all anymore, although right now I'm in the process of researching a short cruise for a girl's getaway with some of my gal pals. Two years ago we went on a cruise with an itinerary similar to Andrea's. We'd been to most of those ports before and wondered if we wouldn't appreciate Aruba as much after that trip, as we had another trip to Aruba planned for a few months later. Actually, it made us appreciate Aruba more! I love to cruise and will continue to do so, but no other island compares to Aruba for us.
"i blame Aruba. IMO, nothing compares.........NOTHING. i like rolling out of bed in aruba and onto a beach. i like being able to make a phone call, send or receive a text, go online. i like being able to walk on the sidewalks and not be overwhelmed by poverty. i like the dining options on aruba. i like everything about aruba."
Thanks Andrea..... you said it for me!
However, I did enjoy your cruise report... thanks for that!
We did a similar Carnival cruise last year - left from Miami, went to Cozumel, Roatan, Belize, and Grand Cayman. Didn't care for anywhere but Grand Cayman. We are looking at going back there again (instead of Aruba - gasp) only because there is a direct flight there from Denver. There aren't any direct flights to from Denver to Aruba
Aruba feels (and is) safe enough for me to drive around without my husband to grab dinner or run an errand. It's hard to get lost! I would love to get to Aruba more, but until I live closer with more convenient, cheaper flights...(had to typing stop due to tears)
