Cat advise

Found a lump on my cats jaw. After looking at it, rubbing it and opening her mouth it's apparent she is in no pain because she just purred and kneaded me, if she was I wouldn't hesitate on taking her to the Doctor. My question is should I take her? before you answer let me fill you in on her. She is going on 18, indoor cat and is very scared of the Doctor. Friends of ours had a 15 year old cat she brought there and it had a heart attack in the office, thats on my mind since she is 18. Just looking for thoughts.

what lump?
what jaw?

age 18 no discomfort fear of vet
pass on vet visit .....until comfort measures are needed

dislclosure
our cat age 18 died 2 yrs ago this week
she was afraid of the vet
she was an indoor cat with no health issues
right be4 she died we noticed weight loss and less urine production
brought her to the vet, she stressed out and went ballistic
vet told us she was beginning kidney failure
brought cat home and she could not calm down from the vet visit
she got worse and worse
had to be tranquilized
eventually went back to the vet and we had her put down

regrets yup
we knew she was in no discomfort
she was at the end of her life

we did her a disservice

i pray that you make the correct decision based n your gut feeling and the cat's temperment

Just one other thought in case you really want the cat checked. Some of the vets in our area will do "house calls." It's something we are keeping in mind for our aging pups - our black lab mix really stresses when going to the vet. As long as she is not suffering, that is most important. Good luck.

Sorry to hear this sad cat story. My own cat is almost 11. He's gandisiomo but so far very healthy. Just needed some teeth pulled a while back. He does okay at the vet for his shots and everything, just doesn't like when dogs bark. That freaks him out.

I put a cat in every one of my books because they have so much character that to leave them out would diminish the narrative. Charlie's cats (from Charlie's Bar) were tons of fun. There was Eight Ball, Snow Ball, ScrewBall, and Chavez. No cats in residence there now.

All the best with your feline friend.

Top back near the jaw above her teeth. I got a good look at the bump. It is a white small gum-ball size. She has no problem letting me look at it. Still has the same temperament, very friendly towards us and wants to chase dog. Purrs, plays but been sleeping more than ever and is eating a storm. I will keep an eye but for now the Vet office is out but I will try to find one that will come to the house. Thanks everyone!!

When she stops eating, start worrying. My wife's 12 year old cat has lost a ton of weight recently and is going to be lucky to last through the spring.

WOW, Andrea J you hit it on the head. It is and was a cyst. I found a wonderful home visiting Doctor(Thank you.never thought of it.) that took care of her. Thanks to everyone for there input. She (tweety) is like a kitten again. Being her old 18 years pain in the butt that I enjoy so much!!!!!!

I will never again say why are you under my feet?
