While I don't agree with the decision, I respect the judgement of the presiding judge. Now that the case is over, I wish Coco and her new owner all the luck and happiness in the world.
On a side note, my wife and I are involved with a fantastic rescue group here in New Jersey named, Home for Good Dogs Rescue. We recently adopted a black lab/Australian Shepard mix puppy that was rescued from a kill shelter in Alabama. I have all the respect in the world for anyone involved with animal shelters especially Cathy from Aruba. She helped us two years ago when my wife rescued 5 puppies that were left in a box near the soccer field behind St. Anna church in Noord. (One of the puppies was adopted by Scott of Scott's Brats).
Happy with the result. As justice isn't always served, I had my doubts as to whether it would turn out as nicely as it did. It's a shame that the O'Connell's good deed turned into such a nightmare for them.....an expensive one at that.
As for plaintiff, it's too bad she wasn't forced to pay the attorney's fees for the O'Connell's. She obviously could afford to.

A North Attleboro couple has been granted custody of a dog.
Dan and Lisa O'Connell said they rescued Coco, the mixed-breed dog from a beach in Aruba.
However, Cornelia Hajdinyak and Howard Tromb, a couple from Aruba, sued to get the dog back, claiming they own Coco. They said the dog was simply lost at the time the O’Connell’s found her.
The dog fight landed in a courtroom.
On Wednesday afternoon, a judge in Attleboro District Court granted full custody of Coco to the O'Connell's.
