Diving in Bonaire

Okay, let me start by saying I am still in shock.....Managed to go to 99 feet during my first deep dive to see the Hilma Hooker, a sunken drug ship along the coast. Also went down to 105 feet at the Dive Reef attached to our hotel...
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER would have believed it possible but I guess everyone is right,,,,,,,you really can not tell how deep you are because the water is so clear and there is SO much to see !!!!!
Got to see a couple of octopus or octopi...or whatever more than one are called..
also got to see a seahorse, a red one.....I am still amazed at how little they are...a few folks in our group got to see a starfish but I missed it..
also saw some eels, peacock flounders, sea cucumbers.....
What a blast...ready to plan another trip...so I guess I am hooked !!!!

To see star fish, head down south of the Bunker Bar with your mask and snorkel and just head out to the sea grass. We have always seen star fish there. Imo, it will be a slight letdown after the seahorse.

Thanks all....and a starfish would not be a let down compared to a seahorse....everything is the water is amazing to me. Especially since I am a "newbie" to diving....

As for how is bonaire....looks just like Aruba....scrub grass, sandy, kind of hilly at one end of the island and flat on the other...windy...if you did not know you were in bonaire you would think you were in Aruba...they speak all the same languages...the biggest difference is that they still use guilders rather than florins and most places pay you back in guilders rather than dollars...but that is all.

I did hear that very soon they are or have ceeded (right word???) from the Nederlands and will be a free independent country.....I do not think that is such a good idea since Chevez seems to think he owns the 3 islands anyway....who will protect them from that crazy man if he decides to try a take over ????? Will the Dutch protect them if they do not own them anymore or will the USA have to stick their neck in yet again ???
