Female Taxi Driver Assaulted
A female taxi driver was severly beaten by an American tourist recently. I've gotten some conflicting information. I originally heard it was by two males, and then I heard that it was by one male. I also heard that he (or they) escaped back to the US and then I heard that he had been captured. He apparently beat her up and then car jacked her. She is in very bad condition. So sad. I'm sure that this has made all of the other female drivers very nervous.
Makes me sick. Too many Americans, for some reason, think they're superior. An example of that is when they think someone in Aruba is slow because they struggle with English.....ignoring the fact that the Aruban likely speaks four languages.
Last evening we had a dinner party to celebrate my wife's birthdaty. One of our guests is a female taxi driver. Here is what she told me: The driver picked up a single guy in front of Gianni's. He asked to go to the Renaissance On the way he started shouting and grabbed her so she stopped He proceeded to beat the living day lights out of her, took her money and took off in the cab, damaging it in the process. The driver has 6 broken ribs, a broken nose and bruising. The guy was arrested and is currently in the KIA Jail. I am told he will appear in court and probably face a stiff fine and deportation.
There is a photo of the driver on the front page of Diario showing her sitting on the pavement with blood flowing from her.
They suspect the the guy who did this was high on drugs.
What at sort of animal would do this. I only wish he would also face the Law back in the US
