Fisher

We have a fisher living in the forest that abuts or property.
A fisher is a creature like a badger or a mongoose.
A fierce horrible animal that disembowels other animals.....even large ones.
We found a hollowed out deer about 100 yds from the house.
Paul buried it.

so, now every night while taking belle out for her nightly tinkle.......paul and i each carry a pellet gun he a rifle likepellet gun me a pellet pistol

my new name is ZIVA DAVID or VP Cheney

this horrible animal is about the size as a small lab.
maybe about 40 lbs
very furry
huge front paws with large claws
long body kind of a hunched back
horrible scary face

i love animals
but if this SOB comes close to us or our pets we will shoot him full of BBs

ok, got my camouflage on.....my night scope set......ready belle, let's go tinkle.

andrea on a fisher mission.

My goodness! At first I thought it looked like some freakishly deformed black bear walking on all fours.

Can fish & game relocate it to a less inhabitated area?

i had seen it a few times last summer and thought the same.....a weird looking bear

then i was speaking to someone at the humane society that told me it was a fisher (cat) that was similar in looks and personality to a mongoose or a badger

the animal control here in town does not exist
we checked with the maine state game wardens

the only thing we can do is bounce pellets off of it to keep it from belle

our neighbor told us that the pellets will not even penetrate its thick coat
but he said that at least it somewhat is painful to them and will cause them to run if hit

omg, you should see the evil eyes

I read a bit about it last night online. It seems they attack when startled.
Make LOTS of noise when you are walking Belle! Be safe!

I too am an animal lover but if I were you I'd have a 9 in my hand not a pellet gun. I keep mine on top of my tv with a clip topped off just in case! And of course it is not reachable by the children but its there to protect them. Although Brick NJ is rated #1 in the country for the safest place to live, it still gives me piece of mind along with the home alarm. ok - I'm vrying off topic here sorry.

AM.....out

Has to be the same one no? How many can there have been in your neighborhood? Am surprised they killed though instead of trapping and releasing in the wild.

i too was surprised that they killed it
and one of the game wardens said it was "sick"

there was also a roadkill fisher about 1/2 mile from our street too
that was the day we left to head south.
