Moomba Beach, Eagle Beach - just about anywhere I can wiggle my toes in the sand and enjoy an ice cold Bright
I am late to this thread but I wanted at add my well wishes to you and Rick. From what I have read , you and Rick are two very strong, spiritual people with an amazing support structure in place. Stay strong and be well.
You all have been so wonderful, and I wanted to give you a two month update on Rick's recovery. He's up and walking with a quad cane for short distances, although we did walk a 3/4 mile path around a nearby lake using his side stepper (small walker used like a cane). It was a little tricky at times, with some small hills, but we made it. I think it took about 1 1/2 hours, and he was very tired at the end, but he was determined to do it. We use his wheel chair when we need to go places quick or if it's a crowded area. He's getting some use of his ankle now too. He can press his foot down, so now, when I'm driving he can brake with both feet.
Our biggest concern was that he wasn't getting any real movement from his hand besides a small occasional twitch of his thumb. However, thankfully, last Friday he was able to grasp my hand. It's not a strong grasp, but he has it now. That gives us real hope.
He finished in home therapy Monday, and started out patient therapy Tues, although this week is more an evaluation week. The place we're going has state of the art stroke/brain recovery equipment. We're very fortunate that it's not too far from our house. He'll be going three days/week for now.
Once again, thank you so much for your prayers and support. This all happened in the blink of an eye, and it's sometimes hard to believe it actually happened.

Continued positive thoughts and progress for the future. I am sure the day Rick walked around the lake it was nice for him to enjoy some fresh air as well. Keep up the great, hard work...sounds like he is a very strong and determined man which will help.
