?? Fun plans for NY Eve?

Do any of you have fun NY Eve plans?

We are going to a party at our clubhouse.
There will be a live band, hot and cold munchies and champagne.
    We'll be a group of 24 (3 tables).
I am not especially looking forward to it..........i am not much of a drinker or dancer.

Typically we are just with a small group playing cards or dirty marbles, eating chinese food and calling it a night before
11 pm! But this year is different

It’s too cold to go out for celebrations, not that we really would anyways. Guess our partying days are behind us. Boston’s First Night has cancelled many of their activities because of the weather as well. So, I have a nice meal planned; spiral ham, Delmonico potatoes, roasted balsamic Brussels sprouts and squash, and dinner rolls; ending with lemon bars I made yesterday. Then we will play the horse racing game I bought Tom for Christmas. It’s played with cards and dice and I totally intend to win and take all his money. We will be warm and relaxed at home, while we plan our year and our next Aruba trip.

We are debating this topic as I type this. The conversation started with "remember when we used to be fun"? Nothing we have considered sounds as good as staying warm and cozy at home. I'm with Peg, it's too cold to really enjoy a celebration. We considered a quick beach getaway, but with temps so low walking to our favorite places just didn't seem fun. I will have to update this if we do anything more than a typical football Sunday.

We went out yesterday afternoon/evening for some cocktails with my friend who goes to Aruba. We were pleasantly surprised to run into so many friends we used to see on a weekly basis and some we have not seen in years! It was a great time so we wished everyone Happy New Year a little early. Too cold, crazy people on roads will keep us nice and warm and safe at home by the wood stove. Have sweet and sour meatballs in crockpot, will make some little dogs in crescents and perhaps open some of my Aruba cheese and play my Aruba monopoly game. Been checking out the NY Times Square webcam where people have been getting their spots since early this am. I cannot even imagine, most likely will be in bed and see the new year in the morning. stay safe everyone who is brave enough to venture out and have fun.

I have to work tonight. It will be my last "winter" holiday till it falls on the weekend again.
Planned a pot luck with co workers and will share with the folks that are still awake.
Dinner today is a Yankee Pot roast (Lou's request) slow cooking... then instead of normal potatoes will serve over
garlic mashed potatoes and rolls. Me I am able to eat a few bites.. but making my family happy and others makes me happy

Please those who are going out stay safe and warm..

I have not gone out for New Year's eve in at least 28 years or more. Even if we wanted to go out, we wouldn't-the wind chill will be -10F tonight. Stu will probably fall asleep on the sofa waiting for midnight. As of yesterday, my son's friend is staying with us now(I have no idea for how long) so I won't be watching the new year come in wearing my pj's.

Son just picked up a 4 boxes of chicken wings (mild breaded and naked) at Publix's; and mini cupcakes..
just finished up the sweet and sour meatballs; cheese/pepperoni and crackers; baked beans; sourdough bread (publix with their spinach dip)
Cheated and bought some cookies at Aldi's these real thin butter ones. (from the Neitherlands too)
And of course Sparkling non alcohol champagne.
Other staff is supposed to bring in stuff.. but some usually forgets.
I mainly do it for my patients. They too realize it is New Year's Eve and need to celebrate too.

I am at my clubhouse’s party. I’d rather have my toenails removed without anesthesia. If it weren’t for fireball tonight I would be outta my mind.
