    Gardening tips/help/instructions :)

    Yes you read that right.

    Hugely off topic.

Any Aruba residents or warm weather usa residents have any experience growing orchids?

Our son and daughter in law gave us 2 magnificent orchid plants and the employee in the garden section at lowes told them "tell your parents to tie it to a tree"

I googled it. Paul and I studied it and looked at tons of google photos.

We think we will be tying them to the trees tomorrow.

I am hoping that at least one of you out there grow orchids.

    Anyone?

They really were great photos. I hope you're successful with it! Years ago, the president of the company I worked for was really into growing orchids. He actually had a greenhouse built off his office. When he retired he moved to Florida and spent his time growing them so I would guess Florida has the right climate.

No Orchids here. But Passion flowers which grow in our trees and bushes and are outside all year round.

Orchids don't like direct, strong sunlight. And they will not survive the freezing cold.

I googled how people in Florida keep their Orchids outside. It seems there is more work involved than keeping them inside (more watering, protection from insects, plus bringing them inside when there is a freeze).

    Here is some informative info:

Orchids are one of the most gorgeous flowers. Hope, you can manage.

Does someone in your neighborhood has Orchids outside? Might be lovely to have a little chat and make possibly a new friend.

    good idea thanks

we will take a golf cart ride and check out the neighbor's trees.
after 6 pm we can get onto the golf cart path and see behind the houses.
we are in a country club community with 660 homes.
i would imagine that there has to be at least 1 community neighbor.

lots of folks, us included have staghorn air plants in their trees.

here is the one plant that i have not managed to kill.
    (but give me time)
