    Going somewhere new!!!

After 6 or 7 Aruba trips in a row and not going anywhere else tropical since 2010 we have decided to try somewhere new! We visited St. Lucia in 2006 and a cruise and thought it was beautiful and have decided to spend a week at the Coconut Bay Resort in Viuex Fort, St Lucia.

Having a condo in Aruba is one of the best things our family has -- but it doesnt always feel like a "vacation". Staying at a resort on a beach will be a nice change of pace. I will miss our semi-annual Aruba trip - but a new adventure awaits. See you next December Aruba!!!

I hope you and the family have a great time Eric. I wonder if it's against the rules to post a mini trip report of your adventure in the off-topic section?? We recently went to Dallas (quite different from an island vacation) and had a blast. It was strange going somewhere other than Aruba for rest and relaxation.

We went to Cabo San Lucas in 2010 --- I missed Aruba! But we had a great time anyways. I will be sure to post a report... Aruba will always be my second home - but it is a big world out there!

We keep thinking we want to try new places, especially Grand Cayman, but every time I sit down to start researching I always end up wanting to look at Aruba. I just think if we are going to spend money on a big vacation, why not go somewhere we know we love. It's a never ending dilemma in our house! I'm afraid I will find myself constantly comparing to what we love about Aruba.
Not sure when, but we will be back

We too have looked at Grand Cayman, but it is more expensive than Aruba, as if that were even possible?

The other thing which really makes me reconsider is the weather factor. Our family was so very fortunate to be in Aruba under sunny skies this Christmas when so much of the Eastern Caribbean had torrential rains and mudslides.

Just looked and the temperature there right now is 80F with a 50% chance of showers today and tomorrow.Aruba however is 86F and 10% chance of a passing shower.

Weather is definitely a factor that keeps Aruba at the top of my list, especially if we go for my bday which is the tale end of hurricane season. As for costs, we decided that Grand Cayman price would even out for us since they don't have casinos.

Watch T & C in the winter time. Like the Bahamas to the north it can get chilly, especially at night. My in-laws were there in the month of February and had nights in the 50's and daytime temperatures in the low 70's.
