that was interesting and sadly true. the problem with socialism is eventually you DO run out of other people's money, then what. If they do that here in the USA there is only one thing left to do. Move to Aruba, lol.....If I'm going to be broke, I might as well do it in paradise.

Amen to that. I was watching old episodes of Anthony Bourdain where he visited Denmark. They get free college, health care but they pay 60% taxes. YIKES! It all sounds good until they misspend peoples money.

Yikes is right. What people somehow feel to realize is there is always someone paying the cost, nothing is free. If the college folks are not paying for their education, who is? Everyone else is the answer. The people that should be paying for the education are the ones that are receiving it (or their parents/grandparents, god willing) and not the poor, and elderly. Their pay is capped and not benefiting one bit by paying for my sons "free" education. My son (in 12 years) or any child that goes to school can expect to earn more than the poor, or the elderly.

So why do we always hear about people talking about how great it would be to have free college for all? People many (most) people have little understanding about economics, budgets etc.....nothing is free, please don't ever confuse things and think its free, its not. The people who it ends up hurting are the poor and the elderly and ends up benefiting the group that either already comes from money or could certainly expect to be taking their families in the right direction by becoming college educated and thus make more money in the future.

Just to add- I would also consider consider skilled tradesman in the same boat...plumbers, electricians etc... in the same situation as the college educated..they are educated in their trade. I wanted to clarify so nobody thinks I am saying you need to go to college to be successful, many don't and are very successful. I just don't think the public should pay for their training or my son's education.

I can't figure out if the politicians are playing the American people for fools when they talk about "free" college or they are not smart enough themselves to figure it out

I agree and not everybody goes to college. So what about a family who pays 60% tax with 3 kid and none went to college? Someone else would benefit as you say.
