Ireland/England

Hi all!! I hope you are enjoying your warmer weather with the approaching summer!

This summer my family and I are travelling to Ireland and England for 2 months (too bad it's not Aruba LOL. I'm going back to Aruba in January, though so I am ok...for now). We know where we are going to go in England because we used to live there. However, we have never been to Ireland, despite it being so close. We are travelling to the Southeast and Southwestern parts of Ireland. Any stories to share? Any advice? What are some of the place/festivals/pubs/etc. that shouldn't be missed?

We spent sometime in the UK/Ireland last Spring. Only 8 or 9 days though - no where near 2 months. In Ireland - we stayed in Dublin and made a few day trips around the country via bus and train. Mostly we checked out the pub scene! We did make it to the Cliffs of Moher and they were a spectacular site!

You should go to the ring of Kerry, Dublin, Galway and Connamarra. It is a beautiful country with lots of exciting things going on all the time. I'm sure there is a website with information with festivals ect. for the time you are there. I have been there 8 times as I have family there and it has always been wonderful.

ireland is home to the most amazingly welcoming people.

see everything.............do much reading. spend more time in the villages of the southwest and the north, less time in dublin.
visit the aran isles, cliffs of mohr, tipperary, cork.
visit belfast and the places off the beaten path.
go on a pony trek.
visit waterford and pick us up a souvenir.
be prepared to lose some weight.
dinners are basic...meat and potato, delicious breads. nothing glorious on menus.

visit local pubs.
buy a hand made irish knit sweater!

Terry Joz....thanks for the ideas! I am so excited to see the countryside. I have seen soooooo many pictures and now I am super excited to see it in person!! (p.s. I am so jealous that you are going to Aruba in 4 days. I am in the midst of school exams, so I am dying for a vacay! Take lots of pics and post when you get home! I would definately be going on the JP while I'm there! Haha. Have a safe and fun vacay!)

Andrea J....thank you for the ideas. I have heard the Cliffs of Moher are gorgeous I can't wait to see them. As for the weight loss....BRING IT ON!!!! haha. Where would you reccomend doing the pony trek!

Thanks for the info!! Please keep adding, I would love to hear about your faves!!! Have a great day!
