Which Kindle is best for Beach Reading?

I have difficulty reading my ipad in the sun (impossible).
From another thread (Gaby's) there is much talk of Kindle Paperwhite.

    Suggestions?

Oh thank you Andrea for asking this. I know now never to take iPad to beach, lol. I want the kindle that you can only download books, nothing else. Divi mentioned the paper white. I think that's a good one.

I just wrote about this under Gaby's post. I have one of the first kindles, designed for reading only. I also have a kindle fire. The older one works much better for reading in the sun. I can read with the kindle fire when I sit under the palapa or when I'm inside, but the original ones are much better for reading.

We have never bought the Fire because like Hatteras stated, it does not work as well in the sun.

We were able to read on the beach fine with the original kindle. We have now upgraded to paperwhites and again no issues whatsoever.

If you do decide to purchase, let me know and I will send you some links on where to find free books easily.

For beach and pool I also suggest a waterproof case, last much longer than a Ziploc bag. http://www.amazon.com/Walnew-Univers...dp/B00KX8TY10/

Paperwhite is the only option. Cheap too. Only good for downloads (books, newspapers), not for internet surfing.

I just chatted with Arun from amazon. One, my power adapter I have would work on the new paper white. One less thing to buy.
