I don't know about you, but I'm mad about the Olympics -- Summer or Winter. Unusually for a Brazilian, I like the Olympics way more than the soccer World Cup, and one of the most amazing things I've ever done was being a volunteer in the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
Too bad I can't just stay at home and watch every competition I can... so, who's going to follow the London Olympics? What are your favourite sports? Who are your favourite athletes?
Here go my medal predictions for Team Brazil:
Gold (6)
soccer, men
Alison/Emanuel, beach volleyball, men
Tiago Camilo, judo
Mayra Aguiar, judo
Cesar Cielo, swimming 50m freestyle
Scheidt/Prada, sailing Star
Silver (8)
soccer, women
Juliana/Larissa, beach volleyball, women
Sarah Menezes, judo
Leandro Guilheiro, judo
Cesar Cielo, swimming 100m freestyle
Arthur Zanetti, gymnastics, rings
Fabiana Murer, pole vault
Maurren Maggi, long jump
Bronze (6)
Everton Lopes, boxing
volleyball, men
basketball, men
Rafaela Silva, judo
volleyball, women
Diego Hypolito, gymnastics, floor
No medals predicted, but seeing them winning something wouldn't surprise me:
handball, women (I see them in the semifinals, though)
Bruno Fratus, swimming, 50m freestyle
Rafael Silva, judo
Erika Miranda, judo
Natalia Falavigna, taekwondo
These ones claim to have medal chances, but would surprise me if they actually get one:
track and field, men's 4x100 relay
Thiago Pereira, swimming 4x100 medley
And here are the Arubans in the Olympic Games:
